Graphics Card

If a Ferrari has a 6 litre V12 engine, would you need to drive it yourself to know it was fast?

Yes of course you would. A Ferrari 6 litre V12 is neither slow nor fast, you have to drive it yourself first to work out what it is.

Your logic, in a nutshell.

So you have not used a 6990 yet you want to tell me that the heat is not an issue? LOL

To me that screams trolling but i could be wrong of course, perhaps you have some amazing features that allow you to know, like a sixth sense.

How can anyone take someone seriously when they have no clue about the topic?

Dude i know what my ssd should feel like i have had it for 2 years and it got way way warmer since my 6990 was put in. That is a concern for me and i moved it.

Show me the facts please?

Dude it so sad that you need to troll threads like this, i don't understand why you are doing it bud. I said i moved my drives due to the heat and you go all crazy.

So until you have used a 6990 your opinion is worthless :D.

Not trolling at all, simply calling you out and showing you that your ideas are incorrect since they are based on "feelings" instead of "facts." I know you understand this, so I'm not surprised you're on the back foot resorting to calling me a "troll."

I said i moved my drives due to the heat and you go all crazy.

Crazy? No, moving drives because of "feelings" and not because of "facts", is crazy. And purporting it as fact/truth/necessity to 6990/high TDP gfx card owners, is even crazier.

I'm a troll for pointing this out? Mkay.

So until you have used a 6990 your opinion is worthless :D.

So until you've used a HD5450 512MB DDR2 you cannot tell me it is a slow card and that it will not max Bf3.

You need to first test it in your own PC before you can give advice to anyone who asks the question "Can a HD5450 512MB DDR2 max Bf3?"

I feel so sorry for you pal,

You have not used a 6990, you have no idea what i know and the fact is my 6990 is heating my hdd's for a fairly obvious reason that someone who has used a 6990 would know about :D.

So why do you think the hdd's are getting hotter postman? Without googling although you better google because you are clueless on the topic. So go google and find out why people would move their drives pal.

A sad day when someone of your experience and reason and level headedness says this.

Ambient temps of 25 - 28'C in a room are abnormally high compared to the average 20 - 22'C most have.

Basically everyone living in SA is going to be getting 25°C+ in summer... hence, you are just trolling killa for some reason
Heck, I know my study can be close to 30°C at night sometimes, nevermind "normal" day times temps

I cannot entertain further banter on this topic until you present to the table the simple facts. Facts used to determine changing things and leading to decisions you made.

"6990 runs hot" - a fact

"Over 300watts TDP is hot" - a fact

"I touched my storage devices and they were warm" - a feeling

"So I need to move my HDDs" - a result based on feelings, not facts.

Don't know how to make it any simpler, really.

Yea he does to be following me around this side of the forum for some reason. I must have done something to annoy him :D Still a bit freaky having a stalker.

Post i cannot think you are anything other than a troll unless you tell me why my hdd's would heat up using a 6990. It's a fairly obvious reason considering the card is a dual card but i shall wait for your answer as to why the right hand side of my case is heating up with a 6990. :D.

Pardon? 25'C outside? Or inside, in their PC room?

hence, you are just trolling killa for some reason

Leap of illogic right there.

Heck, I know my study can be close to 30°C at night sometimes, nevermind "normal" day times temps

Irrelevant, I don't deny that possibility.

No, it's just that when someone who cares about the well-being of others actually reads and completely digests a large proportion of your posts, they realise just how much bs you spew as fact/advice to others.

So no, you've done nothing to afford your own stalker, besides being your usual self. My usual self seeks to correct those who spew bs as fact, for the sake of others' well-being.

Still waiting for the "cold", hard facts before discussing HDD temp and the subsequent "need" to move them. Present the facts, or troll off elsewhere.

Inside, of course.

No point arguing generalisations vs generalisations. Part of country/city, time of year, time of day, direction house/room facing, building materials used, house window air flow...

Although I would say this is about as general as it gets. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Room_temperature

And that would be along the lines of where I derive my information, which you quoted.

Inside, of course.

LOL

Yea currently my office is 29 degree but postman won't want me telling the people he cares so much about in case i am lying.

When i have time postman i will run heat tests for you because sadly i actually need to prove to someone who has never used a 6990 how hot it gets which i can happily do as i have a 6990 :D.

As soon as i have the 11.11b drivers loaded up tonight i will run furmark without a side panel fan. Then i will use a side fan and run it again. This will debunk your whole theory that they don't help, then i will test my hdd temps as well.

Then after i have shown you all the data and confirmed it you will then have first hand experience of a 6990 so you can inform your clients moving forward. It will also perhaps stop you telling people side fans won't help :D.

Until then stop trolling and let this thread carry on bud. I will make a thread regarding the temps just so we can avoid derailing anymore.

Absolutely not the faintest idea what you're going on about here.

What? I don't need 6990 heat tests. Furthermore I don't need 6990 heat tests from your personal and specific room climate which varies between person to person.

Please could you try update yourself with current phase of discussion.

Go right ahead if you want to waste your time. I haven't the slightest inclination of care for a graphics card I know runs hot. I knew this when the card was announced by ATI along with TDP ratings before a single soul even had one in their PCs.

Get it?

then i will test my hdd temps as well.

Thanks, looking forward to them. It's always good to use facts instead of feelings as a determiner.

Don't misrepresent me by lying about what I said. I said no such thing about side fans not helping.

Please stop lying about me.

Until then stop trolling and let this thread carry on bud. I will make a thread regarding the temps just so we can avoid derailing anymore.

Please stop your trolling.

I will give you the side panel results anyway in a thread and quote some of your other posts as the ambient room temps will be high tonight i can feel it, it's not a fact but i can feel it will be hot tonight. You can go check the weather channel to protect the people you care for if need be :D, they will back me up on my feeling :D.

I cannot wait to show you the difference between a side panel and no side panel fan :D. Although i am some random user so you may not actually care :D

Until tonight :p

Go right ahead. Quote my posts, in full, without nitpicking. Maybe then, once and for all, you will realise my posts always took ambient room temperature into account, among other things. It's all there.

I cannot wait to show you the difference between a side panel and no side panel fan :D. Although i am some random user so you may not actually care :D.

Why? I've never denied a side panel fan makes a necessary difference in a room with high ambient temps.

You continually misconstrue a false idea of my position from my saying "a side panel fan is not necessary for single graphics card setups in rooms with average ambient temps, in modern cases with the usual 2 - 4 fans."

Massive difference between that and the lies you create in misrepresenting me. So you are quite right, the chances of me caring about this, especially after you've trolled me so hard for countless hours, are very slim.

O i can say the one negative thing about amd's dual cards:

It can take them up to two months to get games working 100%. Their last fix actually broke bf 3 more and i had to roll back but i am confident 11.11b will be the answer as many peeps have reported their cards are now working 100%

Well I got a 6990.
If I dont like it, someones gona be getting it :D

So now the question is simple, WHO WANTS AN ASUS GTX 295 :D

For a price of course...
