I know this is the age old discussion

but i woke up this morning feeling quite sentimental

Was playing halo:combat evolved last night (wanna play the first 2 before purchasing 3 later this month) and had a stack load of fun.

realising that yes, they are not next gen graphics, but damn im having fun.

dont get me wrong, im a graphics nut. but it just hit home that graphics arent everything. its the experience that counts most

cant wait for 26 sept though

Absolutely. Graphics count in terms of being able to convey information about your surroundings. Going from the likes of Gears to Halo 2, I found it difficult to figure out what I was looking at some of the time.

But - I chose Forza over any other racing game, simply because I don't get the same rush from you get from having to actually drive. Drift is Hard!

totally

i find drifting in the lancer a bit easier though

i dig forza's realism more than anything

it more rewarding getting the drift spot on in forza than in a game like nfs or burnout, cuz it is hard

and when you get it right on forza your like "did you see that"

Old roleplaying games = terrible graphics
Old rpgs = gameplay
Anything out there right now = eyecandy
Old rpgs > anything out there right now

thus

gameplay > eyecandy

So why do developers keep shoving eyecandy down our throats?

thanks to epic

they gave us both in gears of war

graphics and gameplay

I must just add that Bioshock really is alot of fun. It does have pretty graphics but the gameplay is awesome. :)

I still haven`t found a better FPS than the original Half-Life.
4 me its still got the best AI of any game.

Played Quake a lot before then.
u look for enemy - u kill enemy.

In HL, the enemy looked for u. A very different experience.

well... The problem is you can't really see how good the story line is on the box of a game, however you can see the graphics...

there's still games like gta where they don't really care about the graphics as much as thy care about a good game...

The problem is that kids dominate the market now, but in about 5-10 years time, the kids that are playing pc, will want more in depth games when they older... I mean, gaming has become very popular because it's cheap and it's a great way to entertain yourself actively...

I would choose a fast paced, deep story, where it really does get you into the gaming world, over a game with graphics my pc can't play

They fact that CS1.6 is still alive and kicking proves the point. Plus I just bought Splintercell trilogy for R99.
