Gravity

Watched a bit more. She made it to the space station at least.

Its a bit more interesting now i.e. dat ass :p

Will resume again tonight hehe.

8/10 for me, I enjoyed it.

Speaking of overrated - The Wolf of Wall Street. I'm a huge fan of Goodfellas and Casino but this one is just way, way too long and the story is less interesting. Embezzlement has been done better by Madoff and drugs have been done better by Keith Richards.

The film is well acted and it is entertaining but after a while it's just more of the same. Could have been edited to 90 or 120 mins easily.

If there is anything to criticize about the movie it was the choice of Clooney and Bullock as leads. He could not pull of the intellect expected from an astronaut and his joking did not help. Bullock acted in way to many rom-com's and doofus roles to be taken seriously.

Other than that, I found the movie rather intense and the cinematography & CGI is brilliant. The opening scene was short of jaw dropping.

I suspect those that didn't like Gravity are frustrated that it didn't include the usual set of story elements that generally make up an action movie, but what they are missing is that the stripped back story is a major part of it's brilliance. Cuarón was trying to visually realize the most profound horror: the moment an astronaut realizes they have become lost to space, detached from the only thing which keeps them alive and linked to the world.

That's it - the other stuff is just fluff. Other movies can be other things and do other things, but Gravity as a piece of art chose to do one thing, and it done it better than any movie before it.

My sentiments exactly. One of my favourite movies from 2013.

It went down like a rotten apple.

Why though? And why inevitably? It did become a bit unrealistic with all the last-second saves but that's the nature of such films. It's a bit much to say it fell apart.

Agreed. To a lot of people, this didn't hold enough appeal to be appreciated. They saw a space movie with Sandra Bullock and George Clooney and expected something different.
