Great Android apps

Next time RPM, you should ask us what APPS we use for the list.

The only one on there that can categorically be stated as a winner is Whatsapp... Hell if the manufacturers had any brains they would ship the phones with it preinstalled and including 2 years free on the phone.

I am so thoroughly impressed with whatsapp that I have gotten almost everyone I know on it.

I don't use ONE of those apps! :D

As far as eBooks are concerned ... FBReader is by far the best ... why would I want Kindle?

The rest of the apps break down into entertainment (Thanks, but no ... I prefer reading :p), social-networking (Who needs to socialize, I've got books!), Personal Organizer (Time Management ... I LIKE being disorganized!), Browsing (uh, tried Dolphin ... kept crashing, I'll stick with the built-in browser, tx. :o)

Different strokes for different folks!

Every time I read a list of top 10 android apps I realise I don't use any of them :o

With the exception of whatsapp this list is no different :p

I'd use WhatsApp if they allowed me to actually go "invisible". And if it didn't kill my battery life.

The point isn't to validate the apps you already use

Good list of apps,

I like these articles because they give me an idea of what I'm not using and could be.

I'd use WhatsApp if they allowed me to actually go "invisible". And if it didn't kill my battery life.

I think Whatsapp is designed to be a replacement for SMS and not a chat service, even if it's functions are similar.
Switching off 3G reduced my battery consumption, might work for you.

Tasker (http://tasker.dinglisch.net/) would definitely be on my list. Not so much what I use it for, more a case of what it does for me: scheduled to shut data at night and re-activate in the morning (saves battery, data), automatically report on my data balance (need to avoid out-of-bundle rates!), etc.

Only Whatsapp off that list. The others :wtf:

As Qwikslver mentioned, maybe it's time the users from the MyBB forums are consulted and compile the top 10.

I have all 2 Angry Birds, Weather bug, Firefox, MyBroadband, MyGaming, Flashlight Professional, Dictionary.com, Google Translate, and several other apps.

If you like word games, check out 'Word Game' and 'Word Scrambler'.

hmmm nothing on the list.

In no particular order:

1. Opera Mobile (There's another choice?)
2. Astro File Browser
3. Google Gesture
4. VLC Direct
5. Tricorder
6. Pro-Office Suite
7. Barcode Scanner
8. SetCPU
9. Adfree
10. Droidwall

What interest me most is which apps that are considered as being good are available only to a single platform? it seems to me that as soon as any app is lauded on one platform, 99% of the time you will find it on other popular formats.

So I always find these OS specific lists a bit redundant. That being said, I do realise functionality can vary across platforms. But it still seems to me that in general once an app is popular/good, it transcends being a one platform app.
