What is PlayOnLinux ?

PlayOnLinux is a piece of software which allows you to easily install and use numerous games and apps designed to run with Microsoft® Windows®.
Few games are compatible with GNU/Linux at the moment and it certainly is a factor preventing the migration to this system. PlayOnLinux brings a cost-free, accessible and efficient solution to this problem.
What are PlayOnLinux's features?

Here is a non-exhaustive list of the interesting points to know:

* You don't have to own a Windows® license to use PlayOnLinux.
* PlayOnLinux is based on Wine, and so profits from all its features yet it keeps the user from having to deal with its complexity.
* PlayOnLinux is free software.
* PlayOnLinux uses Bash and Python.

Nevertheless, PlayOnLinux has some bugs, as every piece of software:

* Occasional performance decrease (image may be less fluid and graphics less detailed).
* Not all games are supported. Nevertheless, you can use our manual installation modul

It is estimated the global gaming industry looses $500-$800 million a year by not providing Linux binaries of their games. It is not their fault, however... if only Microsoft would release DirectX binaries for Linux, problem would be solved.

Did they just use linux and cool in the same sentence? Whoever wrote this had to be totally wasted when he wrote this. Linux is for restarted people and people who can't afford to run a proper OS. I'd rather run DOS than linux...

You have a lot of anger towards an OS that is supposed to be for "retarded people".
Maybe you should redirect some of those anger towards some constructive, like reinstalling Windows?

it is becoming quite common for people who start using Linux to eventually just use Linux.

But I would lean towards your scepticism by saying that at the same time those people will also tend to not care about gaming even under Linux.

I am basically describing myself. I keep a Windows partition because I buy the occasional game. However I find I never play the occasional game. Most Linux users are practical enough to know that if they consider themselves gamers, they will have to keep some relationship with Microsoft.

I naively let my guard down and played an online game with M$ crap with virus checking on. The account got broken into while I was playing and got about cleaned out.
The stupid M$ crap box had a Key Logger installed which the virus checker didn't pick up.
No more online gaming or anything with M$ crap if the software or game is not WINE compatible or runs on Linux.
