Then why would apple let you still send plain text emails (my default since forever)?
Personally I think they were so rushed they forgot to out it back in.

Gripes with OsX Mavericks

Whilst it's easy to exclude entire feature sets with a simple code switch; it's certainly not a guarantee that it wasn't a planned omission.
Apple's seed note for the 10.9.2 beta does however mention the inclusion of mail fixes, unfortunately there's no detail of exactly what that pertains to without installing the beta.

Sending is something else.
But specially reformatting incoming mail is a different story. If it's sent in Plain Text then fine, but if it's sent in HTML then why would you want to display it in Plain Text?
Why the need for conversion?
Also I certainly don't think they reword Mail from scratch so it's not a case of forgetting to put it in, it's certainly a case of removing it with purpose.
I've received emails the contents if which were literally invisible until I hit reply or forward. Not something I ever had to concern myself with prior to mavericks mail.
Anyhow. Let's see if they fix the problems, soon.

Sounds more like your bank is the problem. Has this ever actually happened to you or are you imagining it would?
Mail does have built-in security for this very reason however.

Haven't used Mail since I started using Sparrow.
When I wanted to check out Mail on Mavericks I couldn't add a Gmail account at all, so I didn't bother again. So it's definitely not without it's issues.
If any of your issues are related to attachments (incl. inline images) -- then have a look at attachmentTamer, it has some controls that might help.

+ this also sounds like something a proxy or firewall could be setup to block / filter.

My biggest griped with Mavericks is that i have to reconnect to the network drives every time... as they randomly keep disconnecting. IT at work says it's an inherent Mavericks problem. I don't like the way the launchpad shows which programs are open, or the new circle highlight colour on highlighted documents or files, but those are such miner gripes.
Other than that, it runs flawlessly on my work and personal machine.

Hmmm, I connect to Windows shares, and they only drop if i leave the network. What network share are these? Samba?
I installed the trial of Sparrow a while back and I was quite impressed. I visited the official site to get more info before buying and was greeted with "We're excited to announce that Sparrow has been acquired by Google!". Yay.
Has there been any updates or improvements since Google bought them out or has the app stagnated?
When it comes to Google and Apple I rarely say yay - particularly after they, Google that is, hamstringed iOS Mail.

No improvements yet but I see the Gmail app on iOS has taken a lot of Sparrow stuff into itself.
Not sure if there is any hope for the desktop version. I suspect Google want to keep everything web based and you'll more likely find new features from Sparrow in Gmail itself.

Sarcasm doesn't work as well in the written word. I positively hate the fact that they bought Sparrow. If they actually supported the Sparrow team and thereby providing a superior product to their customers, then by all means. But to buy them out and abandon the project just shows that Google is the mighty giant smashing little companies in it's path or swallowing them whole.
I hope i' m wrong and that Sparrow is actually alive and well but their website shows no new information.

Thanks for the info. I tried the Gmail app but i'm not too fond of it.
I'm still using Apple mail on my phone but use an Outlook.com alias to get Gmail via Microsoft Exchange.

No doubt the bank is - I gave them hell when it happened. The conditions under which this happens may have been altered but that is not always the problem I have. One of my clients requires monthly mail shots for which MailChimp is used. MailChimp has a plain text alternative and I can no longer check it in mail.
Do they have an OsX version?

Nope, at least not that I know of.
Their logic is a bit different in encouraging you to archive everything as you read it or use it but I've gotten quite into it and makes life much easier.
Mailbox on phone and Sparrow on OSX.
The last time I used Mailbox - before they joined Dropbox back in March - they only supported gmail accounts which isn't going to do the OP any good.
