Grocery Specials Thread

I downloaded the app, but it wants a username and password. Do I need to register for this in addition to my smart shopper card?

I find it absolutely ridiculous that you have to register, and to make matters worse you can't deregister once you have done so. I have no idea why they need your name, ID and cell phone for specials. It's wrong, an invasion of privacy and certain to lead to spam and sharing of that information to third parties.

I see Shoprite has Score Energy Drinks 440ml on special. 3 for R15

Heydays has started check checker's website for specials

Some nice specials there...
2 x 2litre sparletta Cooldrinks for R21
3 x Ariel washing powder / liquid for R99
6 x 1litre Crystal Valley long life milk for R60
3 x sta-soft refills for R49...

It does suck, but turns out that signing up for a smart shopper card is the same as signing up for the app. There password rules are really strict for shopping points though. I had to reset my password, and then couldn't change it to one of my last 5 passwords used.

Go buy some Avocados...you guys have no idea how good you have it price wise on that front. I'm paying equivalent of R50 each and then the damn thing is rotten inside. FFFFFUUU....

On the other hand...ZA mushroom prices are wrong side of OK.

But we can pick our own for free :)

If it's free, you are the product. Or something along those lines.

They use all that personal data to determine spending habits of people your age, gender and location.

On the other hand, you should always have a spam friendly email address that you use for things like that. An email address other than your primary.

Also keeps track of all your recent shops down to the basket details which is pretty nice.

Not that great of a special but Woolies has 6x1L long life milk at R65 and 18s 2 Ply for R85.

Woolies branded of course.

.

Are you back in the UK? Try Aldi, they're about 80p (R14ish) each there...

PnP Bellville. (Voortrekker road, Belgravia)

Oukraal wors R44/kg. I've bough a piece and will test it tomorrow, if it tastes half decent on a braai I'm grabbing 5kgs for the holidays

That's braaiwors, not boerewors. My local PnP (Monte Vista) regularly has BOEREwors (the real kind) at R49/kg.
That's nice (and very far from me) to know :)

I go to this PnP every day and that wors' price is R57/kg on one day, then R44. I have no idea what's going on

So my last shop at Cambridge Food I entered the competition by writing my name and number on the till slip and throwing it in the box.

Got a call today from Cambridge Food head office to say that my till slip has been drawn from the box and that I won a R1000 voucher to spend at Cambridge Food.

Pretty epic and that box was packed with till slips what a luck for mine to be drawn. Looks like I will be doing some nice grocery shopping next week. :D
