Group arrested for Woolies protest

Where was your stupid indignation when there was that weed march a year or so back and some people in the thread called them trash and hippies and whatnot? Oh wait, the weed protesters were mostly white so your stupid indignation and trying to make race issues around the word trash would have fallen flat on it's arse.

Bloody rooster/ozzie capie/idiot abroad clones

You're wasted here.
You're so dishonest that you should be in politics or the church.

Yes I'm dishonest for pointing out your hate and intolerance. :)

I never used the word "trash" and the colour of the offenders never occurred to me but I still feel that people who feel an uncontrollable urge to throw themselves on the ground make themselves no different to all the other offensive stuff that might be lying around.

Yeah because the only reason people lie down on the ground is to become fecal matter or rubbish. And they're offensive when they do so. Even if peacefully. Even if they get punished for it. Nice.

It never occurred to you ... you must be from China where Muslims mostly look like non-Muslims.

You said:

When they threw themselves on the floor they became litter and should have been treated as such and removed as quickly as possible with heavy brooms

You used the word litter which is the same as trash. You're dehumanising these people. And using a term which denotes something quite undesirable - litter. In addition your use of "heavy broom" is also telling and implies use of violent force.

So why the intolerance? Why the anger eh?

The ulterior motive of the BDS movement is not to co-exist with Israel but to bring about its destruction, which will fail.
It is fully justifiable calling anyone that supports this as trash.

You should be ashamed that you associate this though to the persons skin colour, which has absolutely nothing to do with the discussion or the fact that supporters of BDS are indeed trash.

Your above statement is a fail. Since when does Boycotting a countries products = not wanting to coexist and bringing about its destruction ?

give it up
you're trying to read between the lines where there is nothing to be read.
the reference to fecal matter was in specific reference to a thread in which you were absent.
as mac maharaj would say "you're taking it out of context"

. You're dehumanising these people.

Not at all.

These people dehumanized themselves by their own illegal behaviour.

I object to anyone telling me what I may or may not do while I am acting within the law.

You and your accomplices do not have the right to try to stop me, or anyone else, from carrying out our lawful business and if you do try, it will be met with an appropriate response.

outside of the boycott actions the BDSI demonstrate themselves to be proponents of an approach that is fascist and controlling authoritarian movement that are happy to resort to thuggery

As I've said in a couple of threads on this subject I fully support peoples right to for whatever reason decide to boycott a particular company or to express their political opinions etc ... on this subject but throughout history where there is a conflict that attracts the imagination of the public there will tend to be groupings of individuals who have a genuine concern for the plight of human suffering and organizations who throw themselves into the cause in order to have a cause with which to amass power - the later type of organization resort to acts of terrorism, vandalism and corruption.

In my view the BDSI care more about attaining power in various forms than in the plight of Palestinian people.

Describing the conduct as "illegal behaviour" is misguided and prejudicial

Moreover criminal conduct is not a sufficient basis to deprive somebody of their humanity

The only fail here is that you have no clue what is behind the evil of the BDS.
From its founder:
“I am completely and categorically against binationalism because it assumes that there are two nations with equal moral claims to the land.”
-Omar Bargouti,
Founder, Palestinian Campaign for the Academic and Cultural Boycott of Israel.

BTW the same Omar Bargouti, calling for an academic boycott against Israel, is doing his PHD at none other than, wait for it, Tel-Aviv university.
The Palestinian founder of the BDS is also one of the biggest hypocrites around.

Dude you put in poor effort at school and that appears not to have changed. :) . Thanks for the advice anyway. ;)

I think I was the first poster on this thread who had an issue with their method

I think I was the first poster on this thread who had an issue with their method
I know - hence my qualifying the statement properly

The trouble here though is that people clump things up and don't go through things step by step, consequently a dislike of BDSI is leading to some people inferring many things about the particular protest and ascribing criminality not necessarily present; on the other hand proponents of "the cause" are justifying all sorts of nonsense.

as usual space chief knows all - or so he likes to think.
you have no idea what grades i may or may not achieved. clutching at that little nugget of mine mentioning "can do better" on my report cards has no bearing on score achieved, but ability to increase it.

and you too, as you commented of me, must be an absolute joy & ray of sunshine to behold in real life, ne

If you support this, then, yes, you are trash.

“The real aim of BDS is to bring down the state of Israel….That should be stated as an unambiguous goal. There should not be any equivocation on the subject. Justice and freedom for the Palestinians are incompatible with the existence of the state of Israel.”
-As’ad AbuKhalil
Lebanese-American professor of political science at California State University

57 people Saturday at the Woolworths store in Killarney Mall, Johannesburg arrested after they protested as part of a campaign to boycott Woolworths.

Const. Thabo Malatji, a police spokesman for Gauteng, said the protesters at the chain shop, and began to disturb customers. "It is because of public disorder arrested," said Malatjie said.

The protesters are committed to a campaign to boycott Woolworths as the group continues to trade with Israel after the outbreak of the war in Gaza.

Tasneem Essop, who helped to organize the protest, said the people arrested are minors.

"It is outrageous and contrary to our values," said Essop said.

She said the group has protested peacefully. They came into the store and brought out their placards on the ground.

Essop explained that the activists inside the store were arrested, but already out of the mall when the police arrived. It is at this stage not yet known whether the protesters still in custody or have been released on bail is not.

Woolworths has responded by saying that the safety of their customers is his "highest priority". "We have no other choice than to local authorities to inform our customers and employees' safety in jeopardy," said Woolworths said in a statement.

"The police, the protesters' activities monitored and appropriate action taken when they felt that the protesters broke the law. Woolworths has anyone arrested or charges filed. "
