Some highlights for me, most of which I’ve played or some that I still plan on playing. And yes, some of these also released on older consoles, and some are sequels and remakes. That doesn’t disqualify them at all.
We had:
- Baldur’s Gate 3, a generational CRPG
- Cyberpunk 2077 (rocky launch aside)
- Demon’s Souls remake
- God of War: Ragnarok
- Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 (even though I’m not the biggest E33 fan I can respect it)
- Several new FromSoftware games:
- Elden Ring
- Armored Core 6
- Astro Bot, a game that won GOTY and even rivalled the likes of Mario 3D platformer games
- Returnal, which is probably still my favourite current gen game and it’s about to get a spiritual successor in less than a month
- We just had a new Resident Evil game that was received extremely well. Then we have other **** like Crimson Desert, POE2, Spider Man 2, Donkey Kong Bananza, Nioh 3, Ghost of Yōtei etc.
Then we had amazing smaller games and/or Indies:
- Balatro
- Blasphemous 1 & 2
- Absolum
- Lumines Arise
- Silksong
- Slay the Spire 2
- Hades 2
- Shinobi: Art of Vengeance
- Animal Well
- Neva
- Prince of Persia Lost Crown
Multiplayer wise we had stuff like:
- BF6
- Arc Raiders
- Helldivers 2
Nevermind stuff that is releasing this year still:
- Pragmata
- Wolverine
- 007 game
- Phantom blade 0
- Marvel: Tokon
I’ve probably missed a whole bunch as well but mostly just went off memory. And I've not even mentioned most of the stuff MS plans to release or already released.
We are also still 2 years away from the gen 'ending' in a traditional sense.
So yea, for me it's been amazing.
