Judging from the fuel level - probably to the nearest fuel station to beat the fuel price increase.

I don't drive a golf so I am asking anyone driving one. is it possible for the needle to go in to the red rpm zone? or did the impact move the Needle. My car limits as soon as the needle hits the 8000 rpm red zone

You need at least 1 hand firmly on the wheel at all times at highway speed. Even then, a blowout could easily break a finger or 2

My cupra (not a golf but close) easily went into the red zone. It revved over 7k no sweat.

Varies from car to car. Depends on where it's governed. A Golf 1.6 will not be Governed the same as a GTi or a R32 as an example.

yeah I have my doubts, red line in the lower gears, suggest the driver may have simply kept his or her foot on the pedal for whatever reason with the wheels in the air

I'm comparing this to another clip I saw this morning of a police officer driving a minibus at 180km, with a guy in a car next to him recording with the rev counter reading 3000rpm

Totally disagree. I hit a concrete barrier with my old Impreza at 78km/h and came out with just whiplash. Airbags did deploy as well.

Yes, cars are only safe up to 60km/h
Crash tests are done at 60km/h IIRC

Partial head on with a bit of the left side involved as well. I just lurched forward in the seat and had a sore back for a few days. Never did drink and drive after that

Yes it does I had this exact model - When you hit the speed limiter there is a warning that comes up on the info screen between the rev counter and speedo that reads "interruption in fuel supply" with a picture of an injector.

Saddest part though is that airbag is the passenger side airbag. So the driver didn't just kill himself

Aye. Very selfish. I wonder in cases like this if the passenger would attempt to reign the driver in at such high velocities or just leave them be...

I know this is being sarcastic, but if he has hit that barrier a meter on they probably would have been fine. Where they hit that barrier didn't do them any favours
