Which is better?
In terms of price, performance, heating, etc?

EDIT - Will be partnered with:
Q9550 CPU
4GB RAM
Either 22" or 24" monitor

What's Zones sell them for? :p :D

AFAIK the GTX260 Core 216 is slightly faster.

Think the 4870 is slightly cheaper?

LOL not too sure just yet.
Sorry probably should've mentioned this will probably be accompanied by Q9550 and either a T220 or T240... Nothing smaller than 22" for sure. Oh and 4GB RAM

How's the cooling on the GTX260?
I've heard that if you getting a 4870, 3rd party cooling is probably necessary

The 4870 is like R1300 cheaper. It's a more compelling product IMO.

Not too sure about that...
Prophecy has:
- Inno3D GeForce GTX260 CORE216 for R3755
- GeCube RADEON HD4870 1GB DDR5 256BIT PCI-E R4092 which isn't even in stock

Well then seen as this is South Africa yet again a **** up, you best bet is the Inno3D GTX 260 Core 216
Best Price/Peformance ratio.

I cant Believe Prophecy are selling the HIS 4870 IceQ4 512MB edition for R4000 wat a rip off really.
Idk where to get that 1GB propheecy only has the little 512mb.

PS: Peeps say you need 1GB Vram for 22" and above... I have HIS 4850 IceQ4 TurboX 512MB and I can play ALL my games at max res 1680x1050 maxed out settings with little to no jerking or low fps

If you get the 22inch monitor take the 512mb version. If you take the 24inch take the 1gig version.

That's what I thought too after having checked those benchies, the 1GB offer, on average, about .5fps better than the 512mb on 1920x1200?

Does not matter what if you have a 22" or 24" buy cards with more than 512 meg ram, for instance my 9800gx2 512 meg runs gta4 really well but i cannot set alot of things high because it runs out of memory. Had i known this i would never have bought a 512 meg card. More and more games are becoming memory intensive so i would not advise buying 512 anymore, in some games there will no difference but in others you will lose visual awesomeness because you only have 512 ram.

Ah ok cool. No 512 then ;-)
Guess I'll just take either the 1GB 4870 or the GTX260. Depending on price I suppose... Doesn't seem to be a major difference btwn the two
