That black one is a fortyseven Police car....I would've said fortyseven Ford Pilot Police car, but the badge on the grill I don't know & may make it from some other country the Brits sent their cars to...Canada??....

Apart from that, I cannot get over the fact that the Pilot was immediately followed by the first Ford Zephyr and the difference in design is light years apart - the Zephyr was also the first production car to have McPherson strut front suspension, which was even more light years ahead of the Pilot! :D

I think the mass producers were caught during the pre-war with a body/ /fender design philosophy they had to carry through till after the war. The smaller producers in Europe had already started to integrate the fenders and nose/tail ponton style, and when the big producers caught up and replaced their old designs it was day and night....although I have to say that UK Fords/Vauxhalls suffered looks wise in the 50's compared to their pre-50's brethren.
