Guild Wars, questions...

mmmm... should i be scared when i get there? is it bad like in BAD or just BAAD!?

You haven't been there yet?

Perhaps it's just the parties i've been joining up with, they dont seem too understand the "called targets" .....

Well it's been tough for me so far, think i'm going to leave it for a while, going to do the 2 15 Attrib quests so i can finally yield that shiney gold sword i picked up :D

I'll drop you a line in game for membership to WarGeeks, my Guild has fallen too pieces, only 12 ppl left, and of those 4 haven't been online for a week.

My Necro as he is at the moment is Curses/Blood. Curses for the Hexes and Damage over time spells, and Blood for the self healing.

I am planning on going minion master later on. The reason I went with a secondary ranger is because of 2 skills namely: Serpents Quickness (for faster spell casting to raise those minions) and Healing Spring (to keep the minions alive for longer).

i have just got to some distant valley this weekend. i dont even have a lvl 20 char as yet! :p

yeah, concentrating on called targets must be a priority in the later stages of the game seeing the enemies get tougher...

And there i thought you'd seen it all already :D

I have been rushing the missions though, tons of space on my map that still needs to be explored (incl. towns in those areas).

What i found most frustrating this weekend was that there is hardly anyone
in the "Ring of Fire Isles", meaning it sometimes took me over an hour to get in or form a party.

EDIT: Is there anywhere to check how many ppl were playing this weekend? On a whole the towns seemed quite empty.

EDIT2: I was horrified this weekend when in the middle of the mission the party started arguing about doing the bonus, half the party went ahead on the main, the other half went for the bonus .... needless too say, neither group succeeded, result was a waste of my time.

EDIT3: @gkm, ran into someone from your old guild Sat, Pietra was the nick if i remember, small world.

All 3 Ring of Fire mission are quite hard, and each one gets more dificult then the previous one. The last mission where you start to fight the titans is where I had the most problems.

As for THK, since people started using the book trick it isnt that difficult anymore (if you have the right party setup). BUT if this mission is played as it is supposed to be played it will be VERY diificult.

It is not that bad. I have finished it once with a hench only team. One benefit of hench is that they "follow orders". They do not run off, split up the group, agro everything and get killed instantly in the process. One would think people would know better by the last mission, but somehow lots of them do not.

It is faster and easier with a team of real people. They must just stay together, use Winter, call targets and kill one monster completely before touching the next. It is extremely important than when a Burning Titan is killed, that one should attack only the Risen Ashen Hulk that rises in its place and when that is killed, then attack the Hand and Fist of the Titan that appears in its place. Any party not doing that gets wiped. With a good party doing that, the mission is actually very easy.

i am just doing the bonus for the quests to get the exp for them all the time.

i will get into the desert with my lvl 17 mesmer during the weekend now, seeing its a long weekend as well. ;)

before that though i want to get my new necro across to post and at least to LA by Friday too.

People seems to arrive in waves on fire island. Some days there are nobody. Other days a huge crowd. People should also try to agree beforehand if they are doing the bonus or not. Bonus is not that hard on this mission.

Yes, Mr Blackthorn. I still chat to him a lot in game and have met him in person. Pietra is his monk. It was him leaving the guild that made me decide to leave as well. How did you find out he was in The Southern Storm?

We started chatting when i found out he was from ZA, cant remember though where you came into the conversation :D But he said he'd met you in person.

All in all not a bad weekend, made about 8K gold which is good, last week i was flat broke, couldn't even afford Dye Remover (darn knights armour).

i have lately been hoarding ink ( not black :( ) and think of painting my mesmer after she gets an armor upgrade at LA... in the pre-searing catacombs my necro got 3 ink drops within 5 mins... silver, orange and green... lucky bones. :p

I'm looking for the following quest:

Symon's History of Ascalon
Get a copy of Symon the Scribe's book about Ascalon and Kryta.
2000xp

Some of my friends already got it but if i go to the scribe he never has it.

some quests kick in after you have done previous ones in the area.

have you done all the quests your friends did already?

Yeah every one of them.
I even went to gamefaqs and the only answer was that the quest
becomes available once you reach the Nolani Academy.
Ive already been there

perhaps it is a class related quest? i dont recall the 2k quest in the Academy talking about a scribe book... bummer.

I think i just reliased my mistake the quest starter is not the scribe!

Quoting from gamefaqs:

----
Symon's History of Ascalon [roa15]
----
Quest Starter: Witness Rastin [Old Ascalon]
Objective: Get a copy of Symon the Scribe's book about Ascalon and Kryta.
Reward: 2000xp
Reward Giver: Witness Rastin
Difficulty and Comments: The quest directs you back to Daved to get rolls of
parchment for the book. However, it is likely cheaper to just buy the
parchment one at a time from a rare material trader, or ten at a time from the
material trader. You only need five rolls. Give them to Symon, he will make
the book, then give a copy to Rastin. If only you could read it! This quest
becomes available once you reach the Nolani Academy.

Yes, you apparently need to reach Nolani Academy before the quest activates. Do you have the quest in your quest log? Also, Simon does not initially have the book. You need to get parchment for him.

Edit: OK, I see you have found this info yourself.

I dont think i've done that, there are so many side quests i still have too go back and do....
All these things too do before Factions start, so little time....

Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!

I had the same problem with this quest. I thought the scribe was the one giving the quest. I got it on the first play through with my Ele and couldnt understand wat I was doing wrong with my Necro.

uh oh.. will check to see if i have this quest available now... 2k is a yummy amount of exp. :p
