Guild Wars, questions...

we'll wait for gkm or useless the wise ones for an answer :D

I am busy watching and thinking. :)

I have not made up my mind yet. TSS was the biggest guild last year when the OnlineGamingSA site was still up. But I have no idea which is the biggest now.

My concern with creating another guild is that it actually decreases our chances to have other guildies online when we play. I would therefore prefer to move to another existing active guild. I also think it would be great if we form an SA alliance in Factions.

Ummm...... :D All hail King GKM! All hail King GKM! :D

pssst...mccrack, I hope he falls for this

i would also like to know .....i have only picked up a yellow dye and a silver dye.....want to pick up more....like some black dye...

It is spread evenly over the game as far as I know. All monsters have a random chance to drop a dye. According to some people, pre-sear is actually the best place to farm for dyes if one wants to go that far. There are people that do a circle route in Green Hills County, stopping at the Barradin Estate after each loop so that there are fresh monsters to kill. Personally, I wait until I have Droknars armor and then buy dyes from the dye trader to supllement my stash to be able to dye my armor.

dont beat me baas pleez :D

i think we've have gotten him thinking

Sheesh Vex, lvl 20, muchos experienced i vex :D

Actually I am more worried you will beat me with the wip if the guild fails to reach critical mass. :D

roffel @ gkm.

Well give it some thought, i actually wanna find a guild that i can PVP with eventually.

Aaah you see he mentioned "THE guild" he is definitely thinking of it :D

On a more serious note, I think we only need about +-20 active players to make the guild successfull. If there are to many players things can get out of control, and I think gkm will agree with me here.

EDIT: ... The guild must definitely PvP and Pve and GvG and......

America, Europe, Korean and Japan I believe, but I have not checked my facts on the Japan one. I am certain about the other three.

Edit: Actually there are five territories. The fifth one is: "Taiwan, Macao and Hong Kong"

Nope, no Africa. You have faction according to where your account is located eg. Europe, US and Korea.

Althea's Ashes:

Man oh man what a difficult quest. Just the sheer amount of Level 6-8 Charr's
sitting between you and the ashes made this mission terribly difficult. Especially when your Henchies are level 3 and peg off quite quickly.

I eventually managed to get help from a lvl 20 R/H and we saw it through, even then i perished serveral times with my W/ME 11, eventually had to employ hit 'n run tactics with the lvl20 Ranger/Healer resurrecting me several several times.

:D Glad it's done tho :D

Sorry Vex, was busy on Altheas Ashes when you msg'd, by the time i msg'd u last night you were already offline.

PS. This is what i like about Guild Wars, joined a new Guild last night, nice blokes. But that's not what's interesting.
There was a n00b that just post seared and wasn't too clued up on how everything worked. The Guild Leader told him too follow him round the market, then into battle just too help the n00b understand how everything works, how's that for a community :D

That's what's making this game special 4 me .....

@McCrack - a tip with the henchmen, proceed with the lvl 3 henchmen but detour along the path to the Serenity town west of the Ashes location. If you already have it on the map then travel straight to it. Once there your henchmen will automatically become lvl 8 and will carry on till the Ashes quest location.

It worked for me and another guy doing the quest later on as well.

Thanks for the heads up, but i dont wanna go back.... too many bad memories :D There is a town west of the Ashes ? Lol, hmmmm, gotta do some exploring tonight.

yeah, i was surprised to find it too...what is beyond the ashes locale though? i know there is a portal to proceed further on where you fight a few Hydras, what is beyond that place? Anything interesting?

Didn't get that far last night, soon as i got the ashes i "scottied" out to Ascalon, was low on health and a patrol just arrived :D

Will go take a looksy this evening, it's astonishing though how big the map is, i've only uncovered a fraction of it.

There is not much in that area. There is a collector or two and plenty hydras. There are some nice thinks to see through. The ruined fresco-ed wall in the pool of water is my favourate.

Also, one can start the ashes quest from Yaks Bend, I think, to get more higher level hench. I however normally just start if from Grendith Courthouse. Starting it from Piken with hench is pretty hard.

Faq's

Being quite new to he online gaming comunity I found this forum very interesting. My choice was between WOW and GW and you guys swayed me to GW.

My only Problem with GW is the lack of the "open" PvE like WOW's, that was very interesting for me, except for that, i think its a great game. :D

Is there any good 'safe' add-on's or mods out there like for ex. expirience counters?

I bought the game yesterday so its al very new to me, although i've play Diablo for years and that helps. I convinced another four of my friends to buy it as well so this weekend we are going to give it a blast

I dont use any addons as it has been reported that many of them contain keyloggers for accout stealing.

To the West of Altheas Ashes is the Nolani Academy and a bit to the North is Grenditch Courthouse and nothing else in the area.

There is the Dragon's Gullet area north-east of Grendith Courthouse past the Ashes area. I assume that it the area Useless was talking about?

I think some of the GW developers worked on Diablo and Battlenet at Blizzard. One can tell these games have a lot of the same feel at a very high level.

Yes, avoid addons like the plague. There is a safe one that just tracks skills you have unlocked, but it is not integrated with the GW client at all. Cannot remember the name of it now. As Vexx said, most of the others are keyloggers aimed at stealing your account. Each kill briefly shows the experience one gets, so no need for an experience counter.
