Guild Wars, questions...

But tonight Im getting an error trying to enter some city's error=404 so I cant do anything anymore and if I want to contact guildwars support I know they are very helpful but they want to know my isp will they even know what mweb is :p
 
Hi guys,

I bought guildwars today and installed it and I'm playing it...everything's fine and I love it. BUT....whenever I'm in the main login screen, there is a little "connection" icon in the top-right corner of my screen with a MB counter that keeps going up. I assume that it is busy downloading updates for the game?? At the moment it's at 180MB and climbing. How much more do you think I have to download???

Quite a bit I reckon. It's pulling down all the game updates that have been released since your CD was released as well as the factions updates. If you don't want it to download then don't leave it on the log in screen and rather exit the game when you're not playing.

You can also check your Guild Wars install folder. My GW Data file is currently sitting on 2,047,427KB
 
I think the updates are about 700MB in total.... glad you're enjoying the game :D

Thanks... I might be new to the forums but I've racked up over 500+ hours of Guild Wars time :)
 
Thanks guys. I downloaded updates last night until it reached about 560MB and then I logged out. I only have a 5GB account and GW has very politely cut me down to 2.6GB hehe. Anyways....is there ANY way of backing up these downloaded files so that I don't have to download them again when I re-install the game after a format or something??

btw: my name is Peter Lightwand (Elementalist/Warrior) in the game and I'm on the European servers. So if you want to be "friends" it's all good hehe.
 
I haven't tried it personally but the install folder consists of 2 files, 3 if you count the .tmp file of 0kb in size.

Just backup those two files and you should be fine.

Then you can install the game and just copy the two files over the installed ones.
 
hmmm...thought it might be something like that. What would be cool is if they would include a "backup" function like what STEAM uses. Anyways...I'll backup those files once it's done downloading :)

I've only 1 lvl20 W/Me, got my R/W to lvl9 last night.

@Useless, i just missed you last night by 2 mins :D

Could be the initialization string command.... if your using your mobile and it's MTN P/M me and i'll send the settings to u.....

I just got my adsl installed :D

only problem is i can't connct to arenanet. when i launch GW it says Connecting to arenaNet but nothing happens. I'm on the allyoucaneat account
