Guild Wars, questions...

Try disabling that and connecting? Other than that i'm sure some other Guildies will advise.

I also got that all I did was disconnect and reconnect my internet. Paragon this is what is on the support page under the first few errors.

"QUESTION:Stuck on 'Connecting', 'Connecting to ArenaNet', or 'Unable To Connect - Guild Wars is unable to connect to the ArenaNet network.'

1. If you are using a firewall, make sure GW.EXE or GWSETUP.EXE is added to your firewall's exception list. If you are unsure of how to do this, please check the website of your firewall provider for instructions. If you have already allowed your firewall to run Guild Wars in the past, please double check the exceptions. There is a possibility that Guild Wars may have been added to the block list after the client was patched.

2. If you are using a router, make sure both TCP port 6112 and TCP port 80 are opened within their settings. Updating your router's firmware to the latest version available on the manufacturer's website may also help. More information about these ports can be found in the following article:

*
Network Ports

If you are using a NETGEAR® router, namely the WGR614, please review the following article:

*
Why am I unable to connect to Guild Wars while using my NETGEAR® router?

If you are using a wireless router, try connecting your computer directly to the router using an Ethernet cable instead.

3. Try temporarily disabling any Internet security or anti-virus/spyware applications. If this resolves the connection issue, then you will need to adjust the settings on these applications in order to connect to Guild Wars while they are running. Please contact the author of the software if you do not know how to make these adjustments.

4. If your ISP is America Online® and you are unable to use Internet applications outside of the AOL® client (such as Internet Explorer), please contact their Customer Support regarding this issue at http://www.aol.com/support/help.adp.

If the above information did not resolve this issue, please contact our Technical Support team by using the "Ask a Question" tab. Please provide them with the following information so that they may better assist you with this issue:

* Are you connecting through a router or hub? If so, what is the name and model number?
* Are you on a home, campus, or business Network?
* Are you using a firewall application? If so which one?
* Do you use any Internet Security Applications (ISA) such as CYBERsitter, Net Nanny, ZoneAlarm®, McAfee® or Norton™?
* Who is your Internet service provider?
* What type of connection do you have (cable, DSL, dial-up)?
* Where are you located?
* Download our Network Information Tool, run it and attach the "network_data_GW" text file it produces: ftp://ftp.guildwars.com/diag/netinfotool_allos_gw.exe

Please provide as much relevant information as possible; this will help them swiftly resolve your issue. "

can some1 please tell me how do you announce stuff you are doing I have seen it a lot of times in the game when Im on a mission with a party one guy will announce Im atacking insert name or I have 5 out of 10 energy etc is ?

Hold down CTRL and left click on something ie. Health, Energy, Conditions, Weapon Sets etc...

You can also call what spells or targets you are using or attacking by again holding down ctrl and pressing the relevant number key to use your skill.

To call a target to attack, a must if you're playing with henchman otherwise they don't attack the same target, choose a target and press CTRL+Space

alo alo people, welcome :)
been playing GW a bit and been reading this forum, not bad, if i say so myself ;P
Previous post sum1 asked how intensive GW is on bandwidth, I used GW over GPRS for about 10 hrs or so and it came to about 15MB.

@Paragon, I also had a DG834, no problems whatsoever with connecting to GW tho, on occasion it did stick 30secs or so on connecting but then went further. lightning blew that 1 so now i got the latest flagship. :)

I am pretty sure that you do not need to call targets for hench. Just press space while having a target selected (or double click) and the hench will attack it as well. However, if you do not do that, hench will only attack if they are being attacked.

Edit: @ lilDeath: I also want to say wlecome to the forum and the thread.

Playing some Oblivion and BF2. I will be back completely in about eight days. :D

wow, pleasant surprise. I just connected to ArenaNet. I ran GW and left it and low and behold, here I am :D

Thanx for the help guys

Heh gkm, mind explaining that to the mrs ? :D

Rather not, thanks you. :D Breathing is required to experience all this spice of life.

ah thank u thank u, I feel very much welcome! :D

@Paragon, I do remember that I did have a similar problem where I was also on just connecting at one stage. Only way I could get it sorted out was to actually replace my game files with someone else's. (not even reinstall helped)

Another person had the same scenario and he just had to reinstall and GW was happy again.
...hope it doesn't happen to you. (backups save)

Re: the targeting for henchies, like gkm pointed out spacebar helps, similarly just simply clicking on the target to start attacking it will also get the henchies moving and when they are being attacked or of course double clicking (spamming) the hell of the target also helps
..hehe
