Don't be so sure. Anyone heard of /pizza in Everquest II ? Guess what it does. You can order a Pizza-Hut pizza from inside the game and get it delivered to you ....

Of course it's not so prominent 'in game' , but that's only the beginning of creative advertising. Heck i've heard Coca Cola simply using their logo on armor is pretty much an advertisement don't you think? A nice red cloak with a curly C on it....

Hmm...I'm not so sure about this Guild Wars.

I had a friend in the US who had a beta account for the weekend and he initially loved it....until he got WoW.

World of Warcraft has a much more free-flowing nature, while in Guild Wars you have to stick to paths....not sure about other pros/cons of the game though.

Yes and Yes.

The client download is really small. Thenit downloads "as you play" kindof thing.

I can of course cut copies of my directory if anyone wants to save on cap.
 
Still in debate with myself... but if I decide to go for it, a client copy would be nice. How did you get a key?
 
Just ask em not to ship the game, but only to e-mail you the CD-key. They do this for me all the time.

And how do you do that? Email them? Since there isn't a 'don't ship, just gimme the key' option when you order :P
 
No. There is a comments box when you order. Put it in there. Then they sent you a confirmation mail. I generally reply to that as well asking them to e-mail the key. Works every time.
 
Ok i bought the game online via the site i mentioned above. [It's an official site anyway as the the guildwars client will send you there if you request an account inside the game].

Only issue is downloading the game. Obviously not major, but it's not a single big download you can just burn to CD. It downloads as you go along [from inside the game], so initially just 20MB, then you create a char and then it downloads another 50-100MB. So technically i'm not playing yet :(
 
Well, I preordered the game and have been playing since Wednesday 27 April.... its by far the best online game i have played, it really is just fun the whole time. If you liked Diablo, which I know that almost everyone did, you will love this game. I wouldnt really compare it to WoW, since they are quite different. The graphics are amazing, the gameplay is captivating and its just all round fun. Also, you can buy just the CD key from www.plaync.com for $45 then obviously you need to download the client from the website to play it.
