Hi,

I need some advice here - it seems that certain ips in the 165 range attract spans of attacks and that indicate that some pc's using adsl are not very safe - but that is not my problem.

I want to lure these guys in and mess up their pc's if they try to attack my pc again - is there any one out there that could help me with this?

I was a good guy up to now[}:)]

Much appreciated,

Lourens

Check out http://www.myadsl.co.za/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=3542 for more info on Port Scans and DOS attacks to ADSL users.
I still haven't gotten any joy from telkom regarding the attacks that have been logged towards my CAP.[:(!]

Most attacks are caused by viruses and internet worms, it takes a keen eye to spot a real attack.

I agree, most of the attack's is virusses, but you do get the occational idiot that does a port scan to get info.

I will ber able to help. I have currently got a couple of honey pots hiding in the adsl network, when i get a attack from you i trace and procecute.

Lol, i did da honeypot thing a while ago as well. Left net on for a weekend and got something like 15 attempts!

Hi there,

The funny thing is that even if you have the culprit's telephone number, you have to send the telco his/her pedigree and all your log's and the Man above only knows what else before they do anything. Some of the even bigger telco's overseas send you a form that takes a day and a half to fill out. I guess they do it to prevent people wasting their time, but it really makes it difficult in the end to get the culprits spoken to.

Cheers
Antowan
