Nope, not at all. I am all for making them accountable but be careful what you wish for. There is every likelyhood that they cancel such a service if it provides then with too many headaches. A better solution would be to work constructively with your ISP to resolve the speed problems. Bringing something into the public view that is most certainly predominantly used for illegal purposes can only serve to hinder it in the future. Although newsgroups are used for legitimate purposes (I know because I use them for support etc), the majority of people use them for distribution of illegal content and to a lesser extent p0rn. I would hazzard a guess of less the 1% of bandwidth on "legitimate" purposes. Pretending otherwise is just hiding behind "semantics", for want of a better word. You're going off the wrong end if you want to absolve IS from providing a decent level of service simply because of a presumption of what people are using it for.![]()
If you were using news servers for news you *should* be satisfied with sub 10kb/s.You're going off the wrong end if you want to absolve IS from providing a decent level of service simply because of a presumption of what people are using it for.
What an odd argument. For the record I'm absolutely using them for binaries - you know those things that have been around since at least the late 80's?If you were using news servers for news you *should* be satisfied with sub 10kb/s.
We would neverEquinox, I'm glad its your personal opinion, otherwise many of us Mr Beep calls "friends" may well have had some kind of restrictions placed on us by now.
