Halaal restaurants

Local Muslim lad developed an app to find halal restaurants. I came across it in the newspaper and recommended the app to a buddy who is traveling overseas and it worked quite nicely for him

Link below is to US AppStore must be available in the ZA store too(also available on android I think

Which means its not pepperoni then if it has no pork, its some other bastardisation.

Pepperoni is usually made from a mixture of pork and beef.[1] Turkey is also commonly used as a substitute, but the use of poultry in pepperoni must be appropriately labeled in the United States.[7] In the Caribbean Islands and other parts of the world, donkey and horse meat are common ingredients.
Would you prefer Donkey or horse?

Why not.. could be interesting, but its not what I would call Pepperoni then, its something else.

A 'Something Else' pizza could meet anything. Easier to call it pepperoni because the flavours being targeted are vaguely similar to pepperoni

TBH, I very much doubt that they're very similar at all..

Just like Macon is supposed to be like Bacon, but it tastes like shyte and is nowhere close to Bacon at all in any way shape or form.

Hence I used the term vaguely. Why does it bother you so much....did someone force it down your throat?

As isie said, they use horse and donkey in their pepperoni in some parts...you don't seem to have an issue with that...I doubt it tastes the same either.

Why don't we notch this up another level. The term pizza has been bastardised too. As has the word croissant in SA. Haven't seen you bitching about that

It annoys me when people use terms like Pepperoni, when what they put on their pizza is nothing like Pepperoni... why do Halaal places go out of their way to have some substitute for food that they're not allowed to eat the original of? It baffles me....

Out of interest, how have Pizza and croissant been bastardised in this country?

A croissant is meant to have a flaky, layered texture and is very buttery

99% of croissants in SA are not croissants. They are crescent shaped pieces of bread

If you say so..

The places I buy croissants from are all flaky layered and buttery as all hell...

This is called a pizza in SA. Everywhere else it would be called a disaster
