In Midrand, Noordwyk JK is giving Haleem on sundays for free after zuhr salaah... if you around you can get some...

I believe Iftaar at the Turkish mosque in Midrand is quite memorable.
Haven't been there myself but pretty sure haleem is on the menu.

There's apparently an aunty in Laudium who's notorious for her haleem. Will try to get details.

My masjid buying their haleem from Colloseum hotel. Have to get it by 15pm otherwise gone or so I hear.

The laudium aunty I think is on the road that leads to the mosque opposite the billatong shop/garage... its ok... the mrs makes better

Best is home made although Akhals haleem mix needs to go in there.
 
I remember the aunty selling BIG pots just opposite Engen garage in Laudium

I know it's an old post but I've been here a few times and it's awesome,the meat is fantastic,juicy and made just right,no burnt overdone meat here!

I tried the chicken chops,steak and iskender and they were all great.The lamb chops were a bit meh though, I'd rather have that on a braai at home anyday.

A nice dish to test it all out first time is the mixed grill platter for two(around R200) that could easily feed four if you're not that hungry,be sure to order a bowl of Humus also,it's quite nice very nutty.

New management I assume? They were really expensive last time I went there... so they wont see me for a.long while

Takeaways are cheaper for the same thing from them so there is that option if you found the meals over priced at around R65 each for sit in?

Not sure about management though.
 
tried out Lal Qila on Sunday - buffet option for 2 with cola and a lassi + tip = R500

HUGE variety. Guy was like "we have about 75 different dishes" - first i was like gtfo, then walked by the various stations and dishes. Yup, easily 75 if you count salads, deserts, etc. Your grilles (chicken tikka, kebabs, fish cubes, wings) then traditional biryani rice dishes, your curries like butter chicken, beef chilli, sweet chilli chicken (enjoyed that one) half a dozen different naans. Tasty desserts and served in small portions so you can easily try a few without feeling.... nevermind. we induced a serious food coma :D
