Stay away from Jimmy's in Rosebank! The food is not the best hey!

You'll find a lot of Halaal restaurants in Fordsburg and Mayfair close to central Jhb as well.

care to elaborate ? we love their food, eat there often. there ribs and prawns are some of the best i've eaten. the fish well yeah i would agree with you.

For Halaal(not lenz or Laudium) look at Fordsburg
Otherwise which Area i can narrow it down for you
Pretoria East preferably. Looking at proper restaurants like colloseum in pretoria central. Fordsburg is like lenz or laudium.

Fordsburg - everything is halaal.

I dont know colloseum - what is your definition of a proper restaurant? Are the likes of Bismilah etc not proper restaurants?

assuming you mean fine dining restaurants... sadly there are none. ZA halal market is too cost conscious to support such establishments. At best you might find a few non-halal certified restaurants who are halal friendly and stock Karan beef (which is halal) Wombles comes to mind. Though i'v not eaten there.

fwiw the Turkish restaurant at Midrand, on the premises of the Turkish mosque is nice. Decent ambience, good food. I found the portions small, but new owners took over recently so things may have changed (i went there about 3 months ago)

Yes as naeem said a fancy place.

Most fancy restaurants sell alchohol and prepare food in kitchens where pork is also prepared. I guess that would rule out almost all.

No, my family and I had a bad experience 1 Friday evening, the Steak "Sizzler" was still frozen in the middle, some Pasta dish (even though my wife asked for Mild) was beyond consumption the way it was so strong. The Chips, well, its as if they cut chip's from cardboard, colored it the right color and threw some salt on.

Overall, bad experience.

Certain Cape Town Fish markets also, i think Sandton definitely, as well as the Eastgate 1.
