Halaal restaurants

All cape town fish market are halaal, mikes kitchen in rosebank, Jimmiys fish and chips in Rosebank. Jimmys grill is quite good.

If you are so inclined, Fishmonger in Illovo is Kosher which is technically Halaal, Slaughtered in the name of God.

Sort of their stores are the Halaal friendly - not certified, but they source their meet and poultry from halal suppliers, and they don't serve pork, but they do serve alcohol

if you go and ask them Pretty much all the steak houses in SA will say they use Karan beef - which is why i never understand the argument halaal meat doesn't taste as good as Non halal

Simply Asia are halaal friendly too. No pork served, apparently they get all their meat from halaal sources buy serve booze

NO CTFM is not halaal anymore.
I see so many muslims still eating there, they serve bacon now for the past year ever since they got a new menu.
Sandton was the only halaal CTFM in GP. They closed down though.
CT is still halaal, use macon instead on bacon.

Yet they use rice wine in their sushi.
Dont believe coz they say so.
Whats wrong with you people.

Since when do you get Halaal friendly, what happened to Strictly halaal?

I dont see any bacon on their menu

Any one care to share Halaal places in CPT?

I've been to:

Franchises (Spur, Jimmy's, Ocean Basket,Simply Asia)
Jewel of India (Wale Street)
Nuri (Sushi, no alcohol)
Dekapo (Seapoint)
The Atlantic Express (Seapoint)
Taj Mahal (Hout Bay)
Nino's (Rondebosch)

First of all CTFM were never halal in the first place (at least not in Joburg) they went for the Halaal freindly route and as per their website all the JNB store are halal friendly- see here also don't see any ham / pork on the menu - but i honestly skimmed over it - man I'm fasting i'm really not going to look into fully it right now
secondly i personally won't eat there there and if i have to go there ill just have fish but I also understand not all muslims would have the same opinion as me- so all i did was state the facts as per the CTFM and pointed out they do serve alcohol

And as for Strictly halaal don't go there buddy we got what now 4/5 Halal bodies going now with different options/ opinions eish!

So they have changed their menus and halaal status
Breakfast Menu and Add-Ons
Served daily from 09h00 to 13h00.

Please note that selected stores are Halaal-friendly*, Macon* is replaced with bacon in non-Halaal stores.

Breakfast served at Rustenburg, Bloemfontein, Gateway, Polokwane and Parkview stores only.

So JHB stores are Halaal again?
Well the change wont see me going back again after finding out menlyn served bacon for a few months.

They stopped serving breakfast then...
Menlyn and Soth Downs had bacon on their menu, real bacon.
ah yes
I recall when they started the breakfast buffets
I also recall them saying not all branches were "halaal friendly"
but it seems they have stopped with the breakfasts and all stores are "halaal friendly"

Where in PTA do you go for a decent steak by the way?

I have tried europa in eldoraigne - complete waste of money
ordered fillet steak @ R145 and recieved what appeared to be 3 thin pieces of minute steak and mcain chips
1/10

Thought I was imagining things:)

Ive heard of people complaining about Europa Eldoraigne but ive had many good experiences there.
Best halaal steak in PTA ill have to say is Jimmys killer grills in Laudium. Both the fillet and rump is good, with or without their extra sauces.
Theyre even capable of cooking a medium rare steak and they get it right.:)

good to know
but I hardly go out that side, will keep it in mind though

Like phiber said Grant avenue becoming the new Mint road :)

Another up and coming future mint road is greenhill road (border emmarentia and Greenside) theres a Halaal wimpy, Mochachos, Adega Express and La Padrino - I have only been to the Wimpy and its way better then the Lenz and fordsburg one.

Rosbank the Spur is very good (IMO) I haven't tried the mikes kitchen I haven't heard good things but will try for myself.
One thing though for fast food that burger king in Rosebank is excellent - no matter where we eating or going if we at the zone we will always get a take away from there.

Wimpy in laudium was also excellent. Think they now in Eldoraigne.
Spur Risebank better than Mikes Kitchen. Food was more expensive and not as good.

The Fish and Chip halaal opened in brooklyn and Jimmys killer fish and chips halaal in moreleta park. Pretoria old east with Jamaah Khana and getting halaal places becoming a place for muslims to settle.

How do the above suggestion fall into the fine dining category? Fordsburg was ruled out, but these are not much better then what fordsburg has to offer???

Second point - how is a restaurant considered Halaal if they serve alcohol or prepare pork in the same kitchen?
