Halaal restaurants

They dont but since these places were listed I am jumping on the bandwagon. Posed question as I know only of these kind of places besides Coloseum restaurant.
None of the ones I list are halaal friendly? All halaal.

1st point - agreed unfortunately in the halal segment you don't get much (if any) fine dining - hence the options or the fish / halal friendly suggestions

2nd point - Agreed again - hence the term halal friendly they will never get halaal certified because of the alcohol/ pork but they get their meat from halal suppliers - I guess here in SA it don't make much sense since we get crap loads of halal places - but over seas this makes more sence - of course some of our opinions on this will differ.

I should have expected Durban to have something like this.

Don't visit this site before 5.30pm ... They did their photography well and the food looks fresher/different to what we're used to seeing.

Out of curiosity, does anyone know what the demand for Halaal chefs might be?

Lots of halaal chefs in SA but dont know if they in demand for specifically halaal. Few halaal establishments.

They can't be getting jobs to cook normal food, right?

I'm sure (or hope) they'd be getting hired to specifically cook Halaal (or use Halaal ingredients).

Out of curiosity (again), how many of you (from JHB/PTA, DBN, CPT) would be willing to pay around the same price you'd pay at Jimmys Killer Prawns or Spur for gourmet food?

same price - most of us
 
Classic India on cnr. North Rand Rd and Trichardts Rd in boksburg. They have some of the better curries and breads I have eaten.

Jimmy's Rosebank is a bit hit and miss. If it's too quiet or too busy, they seem to take long. That being said, I m rather patient and will always complain if they bring me crap food, so I never leave disappointed.

There's also a restaurant in one of the roads in Maboneng near Market on Main which I wanted to take my Muslim friend to. It was quite small and understated, but looked very nice inside. Something along a north African theme IIRC. It looked like it would be worth a try.

Not 100% sure but don't think classic india is halaal.

They have a bar, but all of the food is halaal. There is also a big restaurant upstairs called sizzlers which is run by the same people. Both restaurants are very clean and have a classy ambience. The food isn't exactly cheap, but you definitely get what you pay for.
 
Man bit dicey unless we know for a fact. Please post only if we know at least halaal friendly.

EDIT: This internet is grating me tonight, can't upload the other pages in decent resolution. I just phoned them. They advise that all of their food is definitely halaal, but they do not have a certificate due to having a bar on premises.
