Halaal restaurants

Nice round up...thanks however I have to question the halaal status of that chicken licken in ormonde.Did it change owners as I know the previous owner was not Muslim and claimed it was halaal but had no certification to back it up when I enquired a few years ago.

afaik no Chicken Licken is certified by any organization. But almost all of the ones i'v seen had a halal neon sign in their window.
However all their chicken is halal (rainbow chicken supplier?)

I think KFC also has a similar setup. Have never really seen a halal certificate in KFC but know the owners are muslim of the ones i eat at (thats good enough for me)

All KFCs I've been in have a halaal certificate

Highly recommend pastas from Rosebanks Panarottis. Pizzas not to my taste being a Roman Pizza fan.

highly recomend Roasted Coriander Greenside
name might suggest its Indian food, but its not (does have some dishes though) more a mixture of different types as well as fast food

Agreed. The steak there is very good.

Thinking of trying it out.
Don't know how else to describe it but the bottom of the base has a fine salty powdery bread type ingredient.
Don't what the hell it is but I'm instantly not a fan.
Will stick to Roman's for now.

I'm keen to the try the Pizza News next to Khans in Mayfair.

Sampled #pizza and its much better than the pizzahut and Dominos variety.

Going to try the new restaurants at the Zone Rosebank most notably Panarottis which would which I haven't tried since Trade Route Mall.

I see they have an Akhals in the zone now - though I'm not sure how good their Pizza is , they using an electric oven as opposed to wood fired or gas

Family liked panarottis pizza but not my cuppa tea.
Their pastas are great and generous helpings.

Ramadaan mubarak to the food lovers of mybb.
Looking for a good haleem recipe or places where they sell good quality haleem in Jhb.

Honestly the best thing for winter iftaar.

And in Pretoria. Get at maghrib but want some for the house as well.

Ramadaan Mubarak to you too, good luck with the fasts...

In Midrand, Noordwyk JK is giving Haleem on sundays for free after zuhr salaah... if you around you can get some...

For starters, the mrs is making it now for the week... not a good idea to be sitting in the house right about now :D

Fordsburg most of the Indian / Pakistani restaurants sell , and i heard homemade delights as well.
A Lot of people are starting to distribute for free as well, not sure who or where though

Muslim owners is one thing, but if he got non Muslim staff only running the place and is never there, then is it still trustworthy?

99.99999999% of chicken in SA is halaal.
But that nutcase in PE may disagree...

I don't think that is factually true, considering the amount of imported chicken coming into the country these days

What's wrong with that. So the staff will buy non halal chicken when they run out and sell that. Or they will bring their own home chicken to reheat in the fryer? They rather steal stock than do this. But they will get caught on cctv anyway.

Yes those that are slaughtered locally are mostly halal.
Even those imported Brazilian frozen thighs are allegedly halal certified

My wife (who learnt from mum) makes the best haleem but it's a closely guarded family secret. I can give it to you but then I will have to kill you.

Let's be honest CCTV is only really looked at when there is a problem, KFC Fordsburg had a problem where the manager was selling his own chickens first before selling the bosses.
