Halflife 2 cd key

Hey all

I have just bought a second hand copy of halflife 2 from Cash Crusaders. Now this stupid Steam is telling me the cd key is already in use on another steam account, I have filled out their contact form to reset the cd key.

What are my chances of getting the key reset or am I wasting my time? Any idea on their response time, I'm itching to get this game going this weekend.

Yes I know it's an old game now but I was playing it on a "backup" before and it was full of bugs, now that I try to do it legitimately I'm stuffed, go figure.
 
Probably no chance at all, because the lost password thing is tied to an email account and they'll email the substitute password there...

I bought half life 2 from a friend and had a real fun time getting it to work.
1. get onto steam, get on the forums, take a photo of the cd key.
2. send in a support ticket explaining what is happening and attach the photo of the cd key.

expect a bit of a hard time with those support ppl, they are fawking dof! but keep on... they'll open the account for you eventually, they did for me.

if u need more help, contact me on and i'll check my emails (that i swopped with them and share what i did with them) because i kept all my emails incase i needed them in future RE: steam account :p

you'll need to explain to them that you are TRANSFERRING the account to yours because now you are the legal owner of the game.

I tried as well, but they insisted i also scan my receipt when i bought the game originally. (I forgot my log in details :( )
 
Buying second-hand CDKeys that need to be activated online was not the best move... Legally you have a case, but actually getting results is gonna be a mission.

@gdiza: I hope you like spam, cause you are going to get a lot of it by putting your addy on a public forum.

It would have been nice if it said something like that on the box :(

Sorry to say! but you wasted your money!
Once a CD-Key has been activated via Steam there is basicaly no-way you can get it to work on another account... sorry :(

had the same problem with Guild Wars after 2 months of sending emails to customer support I gave up and bought a new copy...

Unless you can track down the original owner and ask for the Steam username and password, you're kind of stuck...

only $49.95 [currently $44.95] includes HF2, Ep1, Ep2, TF2 & portal! :)
only problem I have with it is... getting Half-life 2 AGAIN! :confused:
BTW! I am unable to sell half-Life 2 I get w/ the orange box so give me your steam name add me as a friend and when I get my "retail" copy of orange box will send you Half-life 2 :) as I have no use for it!
