To an extent yes, but I view it more as a transhumanist tendency to express yourself in over the top ways. Not gonna lie, but H4 version sure looks better than the previous ones.
Some people will find an AI's attractive no matter what...

Perhaps the show will explore Master Chief's appreciation of curves instead of just showing his :P
 
Something really funny. Maybe a spoiler, so will just mark it as such for those who haven't watched yet.

In E01 the humans on madrigal gets attacked by the alien covenant and they shoot them with their pew pew guns and pew pew machine guns, but nothing happens as they aliens defense is too strong for the pew pew weapons. Then comes Pablo Spartan Master Chief, runs out of his spartan ammo and picks up the human gun and blow the alien into covenant oblivion.

They couldn't do it for the TV series as they already had to make the adopted covenants human with a sex appeal. They might later on make some adjustments as she gets jealous of the affairs to unfold.

They make it seems like it's a consciousness extraction but what ends up in Cortana is completely different. Can't quite figure what the point of the clone was unless that personality is going to start coming thru in Cortana at some point.

They also made the whole process much more gruesome for shock value. Should basically just be a cloned brain with a malformed body in the case of Cortana. I'm surprised the process didn't require sacrificial babies..

As for the changes, they are most likely combining OG Cortana with "the Weapon" from infinity with was referred to as "a blank slate". Her differences and abilities allude to this more sinister mix. Although even in the original the AI's are never an exact replica of their donors.

Ja, that scene didn't work for me. A humanity with a dark side is far more interesting when it's incidental: They're doing what they believe is right but are blind to the ways in which they achieve it by horrific and immoral means. This scene was a bit too obvious in it's painting of them as also being evil at times.

Yep very on the nose and unfortunately it's very common in shows/movies these days.

Two sides to the coin here.

Cortana chose her own look and even chose her own name.

One part of it is that technology moved on dramatically through the release of these games but also the audience became more mature as they were mostly the same players that remained with the franchise over twenty years.

In that same time games went from having a core teenage market to having a 30-something core market and therefore games became more adult themed in time between Halo 1 and Halo 4.

The other side of it is that Cortana has also “aged” and becomes more humanised in time and it’s a bit like the Pinocchio story.

In Halo 1-3 she’s very much an AI presented by a robot-like body. By Halo 4 she’s almost entirely represented as a real human both visually and in her emotive responses and hence her body looks like that of a real woman’s which is of course much easier to do with more risqué imagery.

You’ll note though her body is quite realistic and that of a more mature woman and not a perfect model figure. Her hips are big and wide and her boobs are even a little saggy. So in the case of a female audience playing the game they won’t be put off by the fact she has this perfect unrealistic body.

Also worth noting that Halsey herself is 65 by Halo 4 and Cortana is likely using that as a point of reference.

The TV series she is entirely robot like and procedural with a completely computerised logic based view of the world which will in time I suspect be augmented to make her more emotive and human like.

Nerd facts, she even changes colour based on mood. Not sure I’ve picked that up in the TV show but also didn’t look for it.

Thx for the history lesson. It's actually very interesting. Of course my experience of Cortana is the show and windows 10 (where she is just a blue circle).

Going from show, it appeared that Halsey and that pedoguy (sorry Elon has been in my head this week) designed her look so assumed the same had been 'done' in games.

Now to watch episode 4

I mean nothing says the show won’t deviate from the games, but the general vibe would be she based herself on a younger Halsey but with her own flair.

What I like about Cortanas appearance in the series is the question it raises about a future more immersed in digital waters and the avatars used to communicate information.

There's something about how Cortana looks that makes her very likeable, trustable...she's almost got a sadness to her that makes you feel like you'd want to help her. It's an incredible tool of manipulation to be able to shape the conduits of information in ways that prey on our predispositions to physical traits and expressions. Imagine media outlets, politicians etc using tools like this to get a foot in the door with people. Especially when collated data about you allows the form to be configured precisely in a way you'd be most receptive to.

Which is presumably what Cortana is to Master Chief and what we might expect for ourselves in the near future.

I mean it’s what people do in the real world some more consciously than others, to augment yourself to be what people want you to be so as to manipulate a given situation to your benefit.

So adding a visual aspect to that amplifies those results massively as you say.

What’s also interesting is beyond the AI factor, one can think how this would benefit you in a Meta universe when things start going online and virtual how you could augment your own appearance and persona or that of your business to appeal very specifically to the consumer on the other end.

Imagine buying your next car from a lady who ticks all the right boxes for you. Marketing will take a whole new turn.

But spending 20 odd years with Cortana she can be incredibly sexy at times and a lot of that isn’t her appearance alone but her emotive responses and also that voice. There are times you forget she isn’t actually real and entirely a construct.

I’m quite sure if I were to Google it I would find an abundance of Cortana inspired porn.

Top scientist guy thinks it's a good idea to put his face right next to laser thing shining into mysterious alien artefact. This show sometimes writes such moronic characters. He can also **** off.

Episode 5 was still fun though. Some cool action scenes. I'm enjoying the other Spartan with her inhibitor removed.

Kwan ha should just die. Fscking PITA. Why do smart people like the ex Spartan who feels obligated to keep a promise go through **** to keep her safe . He should have just left her to her own devices.
