Hard luck, mobile consumers: Vodacom

They probably ask for a Vat Number or company registration docs.
They might even do a credit check on the company name.
I dunno... but that's what we do.

Correct. We will want to registration docs in case of a CC or PTY etc. VAT is not mandatory as not all business are VAT registered. Sole proprietor I dont think there is registration docs. I could be mistaken. I have never actually done a applicaton for new sole proprietor. One of my customers is one, but he was already a client when I started working here.

Tried to check pricing on Vodacom's website - new pricing doesn't reflect yet.

+1 for shaming bad customer service in news articles.

MyBroadband contacted Vodacom’s communications department regarding the product, but, despite numerous attempts, no feedback was received.

Trying to call the business helpdesk for the product also proved fruitless – the number did not connect despite multiple calls.

MyBroadband then tried to call the standard Vodacom data helpline. While the automated menu system worked, we could not speak to a helpdesk agent because they could not hear us.

As a last resort we called the business support number, and an agent was reached. She put us through to the sales division, which informed us that the product is not available to residential customers.

But why the difference between business/non-business entities?

My guess would be there is large potential for growth with business and corporate accounts. So where a individual will have 1 or perhaps 4 lines for the family....a business can grow to have 100's of lines under one account. That needs to be encouraged and the account nurtured to grow it.

That is just my view on it. Not necessarily Vodacom's business plan or rule or whatever you call it.

Title is incorrect, should be" Hard luck, idiotic Vodacom mobile consumers: Vodacom":D

Ok,

But I would imagine the potential business from all the Vodacom current individuals customer base is bigger than the equivalent potential from companies in SA. There are just more individuals, and its easier for individuals to move over from another service provider.

Somthing that I also forgot to mention is that the purpose of the BC product range is also to cater to companies that find it difficult to get connected by normal means. Cable theft etc is a big problem so that is a gap that we can fill with this product range. People that is in the middle of nowhere can use satellite or microwave. Fibre of course is a nice replacement for ADSL lines that were stolen, but subject to availability in the area.

Yeah its a great product as backup for when our phone lines get stolen which is quite often.I thought of signing up for this yesterday and the price is really good, but unfortunately there's no Vodacom signal at our company premises at all.The other 3 networks at least have 3G with full signal.

.........because consumers are a challenge to manage because of P2P and Sab?? So charge them more
