Hard luck, mobile consumers: Vodacom

Nothing new glad I left them

Hard luck, consumers: Vodacom

Vodacom recently reduced the price of its Broadband Connect LTE products, but residential customers are not allowed to buy the service.

Every time you want to do something a bit more complex than check your balance...

MyBroadband contacted Vodacom’s communications department regarding the product, but, despite numerous attempts, no feedback was received.

Trying to call the business helpdesk for the product also proved fruitless – the number did not connect despite multiple calls.

MyBroadband then tried to call the standard Vodacom data helpline. While the automated menu system worked, we could not speak to a helpdesk agent because they could not hear us.

As a last resort we called the business support number, and an agent was reached. She put us through to the sales division, which informed us that the product is not available to residential customers.

if their customers don't see how they think absolutely fsuckall about them then maybe this should push the undecided over the edge...

I am one of their customers with no other options available to me...

Vodacom always try to rip off the customer just enough to milk them but just short of losing them, always claiming that its the best network that's why its so expensive blah blah. There are so many better deals out there at the moment anyways, all you need to do is shop around and not run to your nearest Vodacom store on the weekend when it looks like home-affairs.

Only network that actually works at my house is Vodacom.

I actually bought several prepaid sims (mtn, cellc, 8ta), put some airtime on them and then gave up in frustration when I got nowhere.
At work MTN gives EDGE, at home that is what you get if you are lucky, the rest just as bad.

So what's stopping a residential customer from just claiming they're a business customer anyway? What exactly is the definition of a business customer? Only dinosaur companies make distinctions between residential and business customers.

Just get FNB to make you a company for R150 or whatever the cost is.

You don't even need to do that. Operating as a sole proprietor is technically a business too. If you consider yourself to be a business then you are one.

Sure, probably many people in your situation, but then there are millions who pay Vodacoms exorbitant rates because they simply think its the only network in SA, or think its such a hassle to port

I asked Ockie

Yes you can, BUT, with the credit vetting process Vodacom will want to see the bank statements for this entity. Money coming in and money going out. Do you have a bank account for the company and is there money in it?

To be fair the end of the month is not a good time to phone any call center .

But this sounds about right for Vodacom they try to extract the maximum amount of money from their subscribers .

They probably ask for a Vat Number or company registration docs.
They might even do a credit check on the company name.
I dunno... but that's what we do.
