For those that thought of using this as a backup battery for a router they support being charged whilst in use, which not all powerbanks can do.

Does anyone know if these have that annoying switch on/off feature that the Romoss banks have, you have to switch them on to charge anything and then they auto switch off if they detect output below a certain level?

I have a device with a very low current draw and all the Romoss battery banks I have switch off after 30 secs when it's connected, very sad because I have like 5 of them and none of them will work with this device.

I can't say for certain, but I have an ADATA AP12500D and it also behaves that way. It's more like after 60 seconds or longer, but it also happens. I tried connecting one to a Gameboy Advance SP and it would frequently cut out due to the low power draw of the Gameboys. Same thing happens if I try to power USB speakers with it.

One workaround is to charge a phone with it on the second port at the same time. :giggle:

Most of the modern powerbanks have the auto switch off feature to prevent overcharging. Maybe you can try to charge two devices at the same time using two USB ports on the powerbank or alternatively use a USB splitter cable off one port if the ports switch off independently.

That sucks, I have a little amplifier that draws a tiny current and I have a small battery bank that doesn't have this switch off feature but it doesn't last very long.

Had the same problem with my romoss - had to buy a newer model (in the "sense" range of models) to overcome this. Still a big romoss fan.

How are you powering your router? Does your router run off 5V or are you boosting up the voltage to 9V/12V? I currently have a big ol' UPS powering my fibre box and router but it seems wasteful to go AC->DC->AC->DC, might use this and boost the voltage.

Apparently some 12v routers will still work fine with a 5v input, just give it a try, best to ask on the thread discussing it, so we don't spam this thread, there's quite a big thread with many options. My Tplink Mr200 will run off a 5v USB battery bank.

Think it was the sense models that introduced low power charging for romoss.

The xiaomi power banks also have low power charging, double pressing the power button gives you 2 hrs of low power charging for your smart watch, Bluetooth headset etc.

I imagine the Pi4 will start at around R700 upon release. Initial demand will be high enough for them to hike prices a little.
