Think I got a bargain on the WD My Book Duo 16 TB

Ordered from amazon uk : https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B073ZMWD98/
On the page it shows 349 GBP but on checkout only 291 GBP. Landed cost was shown as R6755 but I chose to pay in GBP and with currency conversion it came to R6708 which was confirmed by sms from the bank

Quite interesting that the same item on amazon.com: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B074QW86T4 had a landed cost of R9557.

R6700 not bad considering these WD Red NAS drives cost around 4k each on their own.
Is it a Red drive? Did you try and take it out of the enclosure? Or are they white-label drives?

This bad boy was delivered today and it has indeed proper red drives (WD80EFAX) with 256 cache. I'm really impressed.

edit: this drive is the 3rd fastest 8tb produced by wd only behind the gold (datacenter WD8003FRYZ and WD8002FRYZ) drives. And only by 86 points.

Still stock of the white ones on loot @R399

Can get the orange ones on takealot for the same price if you use (one of) your R200 visa voucher(s) ;)

edit: geez, in this review of the speakers about 4 years ago they had RRP of R1749
Thank you, grabbed one just in time as they are sold out again. Incidentally my blue ones I ordered arrived today. Can't wait to give them a go.
No, white would have been perfect, the blue was a bit too much :(
