If someone wants a smaller machine and is willing to pay R5k more for it, then fair enough. I think most people would want a machine with a larger screen, faster graphics card and at a cheaper price.

I think it's true up to a point. I think 15" is the sweet spot, but larger can work if it's a thin laptop like the XPS 17 or the MBP 16. A 17 gaming laptop is a very niche product imo. That Acer is about 2.5cm thick, which is quite chonky.

Is this a good deal?

Don't often see such a steep discount...

Just hit the gym with these, and I want to say, they’re damn good! Fully lived up to the hype.

Buds fall out of my ears when I’m active so that’s why I wanted these sports hooks specifically.
Are they comfortable? Do you think they could be worn with (eye) glasses?

They’re extremely comfortable. The ear hooks are soft and so are the ear tips, which just gently sit in your ear - and there are different sizes included in the box. The weight is well distributed and there aren’t any pressure points when wearing them. 9/10 for comfort.

Wearing them with glasses will depend on your frames , because I put my wayfarers on and they sat just next to the ear hooks, as if I were wearing them normally. I then tried my dad’s reading glasses on and unfortunately that didn’t work too well, they sat on top of the ear hooks and the glasses slid to the tip of my nose. So probably not then.

Thanks very much for going to all that trouble - and saving me R500!

Not really hardware, but Evetech has a Steel Series QCK Heavy on special for R400. I don't care about the warranty, I just want the pad.

I'm buying a mouse, a webcam, but I'm getting those from Wootware. Will also get a monitor, another mouse, a mic and so on from them at the end of the month. But right now I'm on a budget for this moment, so the cheaper mousepad is a bonus.

Just wondering if Evetech delivery is at the very least reliable, so I can get the pad.

Sooo, that's a no, then?

From what I gathered, all their issues are related to customer support and so on. I thought if I could just get the pad I will never touch Evetech again.

Takealot has the SteelSeries QcK Heavy for R549 with free delivery.
Evetech has it for R399 + R99 delivery = R498

Not worth the risk to save R51, also what if their courier loses the package, causes damage to it or they simply send you the wrong product? and Evetech says not their problem and tells you to take a hike?
Are you going to spend weeks or months fighting and trying to get back your money, personally rolling the dice for such a small saving really doesn't seem worth it.

Fair enough. Might as well get it all from Wootware then as it's only 50 bucks more.

Appreciate the help.

Gigabyte GeForce RTX 3050 EAGLE 8G @ R6309

looks like sold out : Back to "normal price"

Now back to R10500!
I have no idea why but someone pointed me here this morning.

They've been back in stock at R 6,309 for about a month and a half now. I was asked by the supplier to trial the lower pricing to see if cards would sell at a lower price and was told to sell up to ten at R 6,309 in Feb. I might not be the biggest, but I go out of my way to build strong relationships with product managers -- and it pays :p

The cards sold in less than 48 hours at the lower price, no surprises there. The supplier then applied for price support from Gigabyte for the rest of the stock, and here we are - R 6,309 is now the standard price.

Speaking of the 3050, glad to see these dip under 6K

Gigabyte GeForce RTX 3050 EAGLE OC @ R5855
ASUS GeForce RTX 3050 PHOENIX @ R5757
The point I'm making, and what I explained to the person who lead me to the posts I quoted, is that when you see pricing bouncing around like that there's a reason - and it's not cause I'm being greedy or had a few brandies too many :p I'd rather sell 10 products at 5% than 0 products at 20%.

Except more good things in the near future, I've just had two meetings with product managers :) Neither are GPU PMs, but it will include monitors.

Don’t forget the 4k 27” IPS displays for the designers and non gaming dudes.
