Laplink software can do this, just not sure if it is over a standard usb cable.
Used it back in the day with old serial cables and parallel cables (for faster transfer) to copy files from one pc to another. ;)

Well USB has input and output so you'll likely need a crossover type cable. Also standard USB only has one Type-A connector so will need to patch two of them together.
 
I did a 600GB backup to a new 4TB 2.5" drive on Tuesday at 120-130MB/s USB3.0 HD<>HD which was decent enough, that transfer speed would saturate a gigabit LAN.

It was much easier to dump my old USB2 drives, and setup a machine with 2 free USB3.0 ports to backup drive to drive. Otherwise these backup job would be kept being put back.

The 4TB WD is R1699 on takealot this morning, pity I did not get another @R1500 from incredible last month.

Does your router support USB3 external HDD?

I need to look into one that does and that can saturate that link with something like the Seagate Desktop Hub.

Router is a Nokia g240w-c. Seems to have 2x USB 2.0 ports. Managed to configure it for FTP, but not as seamless as NAS
 
I have gigabit at home and on my free as it transfers at 100Mb per second. I remember I upgraded all the routers and switches to gigabit because the copying was so slow.

That said, 100mbit Ethernet is fine for streaming. It’s the copying and backing up which it’s just too slow for.

Not really. Sticking to the topic 100% all of the time would happen in a 'perfect' world.

Anybody able to find that Checkers monitor bracket again? Their flyer says Xceed but the picture someone posted says it's SCE. I can't find it on their site or anywhere else.
