Thought that the Hardware-Bargains thread could use a OT thread to keep it clean although I live in hope it will catch on.
My boss instructed me yesterday to shop around for a Laser printer, Brother brand in mind - we have a unused TN2355 compatible cartridge already.
Brother :
The L2365DW (R2049) with the TN2355 toner will be :
- Original : R840/2600 =32c/page - add R1099/12000=9c/page replacement drum = 41c/page
- Compatible : R265/2600 =10c page - add R399/12000=3c/page replacement drum ) = 13c/page
The HL-L5200DW*(R3999) with the TN-3467 toner will be :
- Original : R1995/12000 =16c/page - add R2349/50000=5c/page replacement drum = 21c/page
- Compatible : R999/12000=8c page - add R1898/50000=4c/page replacement drum ) = 12c/page
So pay double for the printer (and drum when required) and get 2x the drum life. I guess for home use you guys may not be hitting the end life of the drum? Coming from a 20 year HP Laserjet 5Si running costs of R1800/12000+ pages @15c/page, we now need to invest into a new machine and the drum life adds another variable to factor in.
Canon :
LBP6310DN R2,645 out of stock ; 719H Toner :
LBP251dw R2632 ; 719H Toner :
LBP252DW R 2,979 ; 719H Toner :
- Original : R2799/6400 = 0.43c/page
- Compatible : R467/6400 =7c/page
- Compatible : R349/6400 =5c/page
- no drum
I would go for Canon but lets see what the boss says.
I use a LBP 6310 Canon Lazer, get the extra capacity "h" cartridge. It costs R300 to refill and R550 to replace. The yield is around 6500 pages. The printer prints both sides of the page. I haven't found a cheaper way to print black and white
Can vouch for Brother as well, very solid product.
