Hi, I have never used them, so I cannot comment.

I see that their price includes shipping as well. Not sure what DP charges for shipping of the notebook to major centres.

Hmm. They're about R400 cheaper than laptopdirect.co.za, who won't match their price. Just wondering if it's better to spend the extra money and go with a better known shop, or whether mynewlaptop.co.za is reputable enough.

At this point in time we charge the following to city centres...JHB = R50 and CPT/DBN: R60

CathJ to answer your question, if it was up to me, I would go for the DP deal. IMHO and experience cheaper is not necessarily better. You might save R200 now, but might regret it when something goes wrong with the notebook.

I have placed and received 11 orders through DP during the last two years with no problems which I can recall. Also, having a DP representative available right here to answer questions and give feedback is worth much more than R200.

Just my 2c.

Actually I'm looking at the Lenovo G530, but the point is much the same - laptopdirect and digitalplanet are much the same price when you include shipping; or mynewlaptop is about R400 cheaper. Maybe DP is the way to go; as you say, having a rep on the forum is a definite plus. I guess there's just a bit of a hangover of their bad rep from a few years ago.
 
Yes their service is good. I ordered a HP 610 from them on friday and it was delivered to one of our offices in East-London tuesday morning. With free shipping.
 
Makro has a special at the moment for R4999 for a really mid-spec notebook with the older dual core CPU which is fine for mostly everything except gaming...

Hmm, it's a race! I've had a reply to my query about stock from mynewlaptop.co.za, but no reply yet from DP (yes, I know I only emailed them both yesterday mid-afternoon, but I'm impatient :p)

You can get the slightly improved version for R6700 at mynewlaptop/digitalplanet - much the same specs, but with Vista Business and a Core 2 Duo T6400.
