Anyone remember about 5 maybe 6 years ago, that Trevor said that in the interest of growing the nations in terms of It, blah blah...he removed ALL IMPORT TAX on PC hardware. I rememeber this clearly, even got the budget from then, at stated it...but guess what...we never saw it! Why? Because the suppliers just took it and added it to profits.

I queried this with some large suppliers, they gave me the "Its import duties (BS) and the shipping costs which make it so expensive." I asked, how can I get something (1 item) shipped here for X (US Retail price), but when they ship it here in the thousands then it costs X+20-30% (cost to distributors)

In fact customs has extended the duty free situation to include monitors and other hardware.

Feel the same way - nothing really coming through this thread anymore - signs of the times.

The forum shift one deals seem to have gone to TV's which is now being discussed in the DSTV forum.
That's the only real deals I see coming through.
And the gaming section has a console sticky.

Well game last week has a dell 23 inch monitor for R999. The special ended on 30 Jan, but as is always the case with game, the special will probably repeat.

I haven't seen this weeks specials so its possibly still on.
 
Anyone seen the IC trade-in deals this year? Any good? A link would be nice.
 
They have a couple of printers and a couple of monitors. I just say the pamphlet, so no link yet.

That for real? At IC?
If so, when does it start?
 
I thought the deal with the samsung BX2450 LED was a drop from R2500 to R2000. Have they dropped it more in a fresh deal?
