Done with the research but found out I am being greedy again, it's something nice to have but not must have (want vs needs). I will get one, but maybe at a later stage. When I have more friends who have tons of series/movies and games I can share/share with me.

While I was browsing eitai's site I found something: CHAINTECH GEFORCE 9600GT 512MB 256-BIT DDR3 PCI-E R1599. But don't know how long he will run this special for.

By the way, running the special until Friday. But I only have 5 left in stock, so its while stocks last.

I have a 4Gb now and i find it to be full of my sh*t most of the time, so an extra 12Gb will suit me fine. Might wait for the corsair and OCZ versions to drop in price though.
 
16gb Flash drives-be careful what you buy

I recently bought a a Esquire Flash and Go drive for R 499 excl vat
it is a real beauty , small and very reliable and never had any issues with it
and I have copied up to 16gb of data with not hassles.

I heard a horror story from a buddy of mine who bought a " no name" brand and used it to back up all his music and stuff from his notebook and and deleted everything from his hard drive , when he wanted to restore it to his external hard drive the darn thing would not read his data , I then found out that many of the cheap imports although they say 16gb, or 8gb they actually not and when you try to write to full capacity these units then give up and start to give data errors , so watch out for those. IMHO I would rather buy , a Transcend, Kingston, KingMax, Axiz or Esquire as I have used those before and had not issues.
 
I will never buy a flash drive again if they don't show the read/write speed of it. All these specials are normally as slow as Andes donkeys on diet.
Why is it so difficult to find specs of flash drives and why do sales people don't know either?

If you stick to the recognised brands like Transcend, Kingston and the like, you should be fine...

How can there be speed differances among brands?
Isn't USB2.0 like one universal speed?

The speed is limited by the stick itself, not by the USB bus. The cheaper cards are generally a lot slower than the more expensive ones, which can be a hassle.
 
i've got a Kingston 2gb Data Traveler USB2.0 stick and BOY - its DAMN slow when uploading...900KB/s MAX

downloading is about 2.5MB/sec.

I have the 8GB version of that and mine is much faster iirc.:confused:

Ooookay:)so the like R89 1 gig flash drives must be slow?
