The customs and VAT on that will not be pretty. Unless you can circumvent customs some how it will generally end up costing close to what you would pay here unfortunately :/try amazon.com
I checked it out earlier and some of the sellers will ship to sa

Intel Core i5 Haswell 4430 R1179 excl. Vat at Esquire. It's cheaper than some Ivy Bridge i3's.

I ordered a Nexus 4 White 2 months ago.
Fed Ex charged me in excess off R500 on-top of the Import Charge for "Processing Fees"
This experience made me stop ordering gadgets via Amazon. I ordered a N7 FHD from Wootware. safer bet

Like the previous poster said, throw your toys. Speak to the supervisor. Tell them that you would have done the import clearance yourself and they should have contacted you first as you have a clearing agent etc. It is a common practise to skim money of customers by automatically providing the clearing service.
How could I have done this? When I ordered my girlfriends N4 they requested my ID and also that fee. How would I have gone about processing clearance for myself. I was expecting a 10% import duty (~R300) but in the end I payed R800 (R300 tax+R500 fees)
I beleive the order was shipped by USPS however when it reached SA it somehow got given to FedEx. I would like to know in future how do I avoid these charges (I'm thinking of ordering a ChromeCast, but I fear the clearance/processing fees)
You can use postbox-courier
