Ha ha I'm glad to finally do my part, I've always been the guy benefiting from other people's finds.

Haha - you've either caused a company lots of admin, or made them rich overnight :D (or poor, with those prices :D)

So, I had a quick read through on the current saga... Seems interesting.

If you buy through BoB with a CC, and they go "oops, we screwed up and aren't going to give you product x at this price" what happens ? Do you get a refund ?

Whats the safest option? I'm not really worried about getting the goods, but a bargain is a bargain. I remember I got my 2TB USB 3.0 3.5" HDD from Makro for R750. Pricing mistake by them. So we can still all have some hope. :)

I've had sellers eft refunds back to me in BoB.

My biggest luck was a 720p LG projector through Makro for R2k. About 4 or 5 years back.
Saw it advertised on their website and went in to purchase. In store price was on special at R8k.
They honoured the price and went out of stock soon after (2 more peeps also got it after I posted on the XBox and PS3 forums).

EDIT: That was my second biggest luck. Just remembered.
My biggest was when I purchased my A6 from Audi in 2010. It was advertised as a 2006 model at R315k. I paid R275k after some negotiating.
On collection, I was told they made a mistake and it was a 2007 model. They stuck to the price though. Car gained R105k value on the spot (R420k). I am about to make final payment and value is still around R250k.

I guess the problem would be... How long will this take ? Dad's CC and all...

Could take a while, on BoB it's usually quicker, since they not in full control. 1 week - 5 weeks seems the norm.

They need to honour their damn listings on BoB. Otherwise anybody can spam BoB with loads of nonsense :p

So filling my basket up on Bob right now isn't a bad idea ? And then just click checkout tomorrow, when we learn our fate ?

Keep us posted on the BoB orders.

I would checkout tonight with eft payment, don't make the payment yet though. Until we learn from Jarrodr.

Cool, thanks.

BTW, was reading the BoB Buyer protection Ts&Cs...

In an effort to promote secure transaction methods and encourage buyers to make safe purchases, the bidorbuy Buyer Protection Programme does NOT cover the following situations:

Payments made by cash.
Payments sent by wire transfer.
Payments made by traveler's cheque.
Payments sent to a post office box.
.
.
.

In addition, the following conditions exist:

6. If the item was paid for with a credit card you are first required to contact your credit card issuer to request a claim prior to filing a claim with bidorbuy. If your credit card issuer denies your claim you will be entitled to file a claim under the bidorbuy Buyer Protection Programme. (You will be required to show proof that your claim was denied by your credit card issuer.)
7. Buyers may only make a maximum of two claims in a lifetime.
8. Buyers may only make a maximum of one claim per seller in a lifetime (i.e. if more than one item is purchased from the same seller then only one claim will be permitted).
13.Payouts of claims can take up to 60 days to be settled.

Remember that protection is only of firstshop runs away with our money, so of they don't refund and/or honour the deal. Then it will take effect. They've been around worst case in we all wait a while and get our money back.

The laptop image on their website and BoB has a number keypad but the model on the Acer website doesn't... So which is it?
