Hardware Bargains

Crucial is a good brand, with a history of reliability when it comes to SSDs. The 240GB M500 is really mid/low performance (not really any better than the M4 at that size), and so if you want the fastest, then I wouldn't buy it, but if you want a cheap SSD that should be reliable, then it is a good deal.

Oh yes, just to add: The Crucial brand is owned by Micron, who, along with Intel, make the actual NAND chips in the drive (IMFT NAND = Intel Micron Flash Technologies), and so the NAND chips themselves are good quality, and the drive is slower because of its controller/firmware.

I checked before lunch and saw that they were sold out. However, I have just snagged one. Might be worth checking from time to time if you are still trying to get one. Perhaps they keep discovering stock :)

F me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And they're sold out . I saw that and I was like it's one of those premium business deal contracts! F me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Whats with these stupid hardware prices...

I want to double the RAM in my PC. Paid R519 for 8gigs about a year back....now its over a grand. o_0

Stupid ZAR exchange rate.

did the ram factory's not explode or something a while back?

Yep. I wanted to buy some server memory the other day. Struggled my butt off to find anyone with actual stock of the stuff I needed and when I did, it was ludicrously expensive.

Yeah there was some such story.

grr...8gb will have to do for now.

I'm just glad I bought a complete gaming PC before the pricing crapped itself. Still I wanted to add more (sound, +RAM, better case & cooling). :(

Edit:
So I just found out from Google news that R800 will buy me a slightly decomposed corpse...but not a stick of RAM. Welcome to Africa. Also...I think its time to stop reading news.
