I have no complaints. I really can't see any grid (regardless of angle or screen brightness) .
This is my first tablet so I don't really have any frame of reference, but so far I'm happy. The build quality seems really good, with the metal backing giving it an unexpected quality feel. They have a display unit if you want to get a better feel for it.

BTW, I only now found out that Android don't support ADHOC wifi mode, so it may not work for wifi tethering to your cellphone. However, there is a hack for it, if you root the device.

how are you finding the weight of the device?

I used it comfortably enough for about 5 hours yesterday and yes you can feel its weight, but one will probably be using it on a desk or lap most of the time anyway. It will get heavy when trying to hold with one hand and type with the other, but I think any tablet will. If you plan an doing lots of reading on it, it may become more uncomfortable.
They didn't have any protective case/stand in stock, so at the manually tilt it up most of the time to use. I don't expect the weight to be a problem when I can rest it at an angle.

EDIT: As reference the Asus Transformer weights 680g vs the Acer at 730g

Many reasons but some of them are, for HW enthusiasts to push the hardware to where its never been so they can improve on any flaws that are found and / or better the Power efficiency.

Don't forget if you are a AE Guru, you can do some amazing things with these cards.

iMO it is worth keeping up as the tech gets better, so do your electricity bill numbers :D.

Now we wait for HDD prices to plummet :)

People have continued to buy despite the price. What incentive is there now for lowering prices? The consumer has shown he doesn't mind
 
Does anybody know if the nvidia gt210 card from kalahari includes the low profile bracket? The description doesn't mention it. I've called and messaged on the website but no luck yet :(

Buy from somewhere else? You'll probably get a reply within 24 hours from any good online retailer.

Get it from takealot the gigabyte one has a LP bracket and its usually in stock. If you order today and youre in a main center i'm quite certain you'll get it by monday

@akecpt : I just checked our system we got in some low profile brackets for vga cards from Point of View NVIDIA cards
I tried looking on the POV site but cannot find the product, the price of the bracket is R19.00excl
will ask my guys to bring one up to me in the morning and give you feedback
we also have Point of View Gt210 1GB DDR3 cards in stock @R299.00 excl stk#VGA-210-C1-1024

Heh, Mier thanks for the tipoff on the price!

I took the plunge today as well - price was just too good to pass up. Wife has an iPad so I can do some direct comparison - weight wise it's a shade lighter than the ipad (with it's leather cover on) but 'feels' heavier in the hand - I think that is because it's 'longer' than the ipad (although thinner on width) - also, 'cos it's quite a bit thicker, I think the brain interprets as "must be heavier" (LOL) - am busy rooting to load ICS at the moment - reports are clear that the stock Honeycomb is not great - I can attest to that - IOS is much smoother - looking forward to see how it peforms with ICS.

No one seems to have a cover or pouch that fits though which is rather irritating - going to check on Dion Wired - maybe they have something.

If you find a decent cover will you drop me a PM.

I must say, it has been hard to put down. Got some magazine subscriptions at mysubs.co.za so I'll see how it works for reading. Till now I could only find covers online, sybaritic is the cheapest I've found so far for a genuine Acer case.
