I think the prices have dropped because they launching a new PVR soon (bigger HD for more on demand content)

It's not so much as getting the cost to meet the functionality. It's more like getting the most functionality for that cost.

I'm looking for best bang for THAT buck WITH a graphics card. I've seen GT630 laptops for that price.

I got my Gigabyte laptop last year with a GT540 for R5600. So just keep an eye out for specials .

That (R799 incl VAT) is an average price, nothing to rave about. The best we have seen on a 1TB of that spec (2.5" USB 3.0) is about R680 from incredible conn for a WD HDD.

edit: If you are desperate to get something right now, then perhaps R799 for a 1TB will have to do. Is possible that pricing has gone up in general since the rand has been so weak lately. i.e. Game's special price went up by R100 in the last 3 weeks.
