Can you put a link to the HelloPeter complaint?
I also did the same, went to store, no stock, got slip saying I came in before special end date and am due the drive at the special price, was told I would be contacted... still waiting...

Can't find the link now. It seems it depends on which store. See there are still a lot of complaints that have not been resolved. I was phoned by someone at our local store.

How many hours of your time for that R400?

Actually took less than 15 minutes.

While you were waiting, did you play with the xbox or ps3 ?
Justasking.

See above.

Hats off to you, it takes me longer than 15 minutes to find where to post in Hellopeter, not to mention that I keep forgetting my password and have to reset it... then there's the two trips to Game which takes a few minutes despite me living close, then there's the discussion with the manager which you say you managed to convince 'eventually'. We won't mention that finding a staff member who is actually working is a challenge in itself.

All in 15 minutes... I need to learn that kind of time management! Or move to a town with more efficient people :p

Friend of mine fried his graphics card. Dunno what he did but his words .. "smoke came out".

Looking for any specials on a decent-ish (GTS 450+) gfx card. Budget is R1000. The places I've tried today all have no stock.

Anyone?

What do you think of this great offer for tomorrow only: a Verbatim 3TB, 3,5 inch desktop external hard drive for R1099.95 (save R700.00!)

I need 3TB internal.....do you guys think its gonna be a mission, taking the hard disk out?

Edit:USB2 or USB3?

I don't think it's going to be very fast tbh. I may be wrong, but those externals are usually slower platters.
*EDIT* which is OK if it's not your OS drive.

You think they use different drives for external vs internal??

O/T - i once read an article where they partitioned a 2tb Seagate LP drive IIRC to like 300gb, and benchmarked it - it was as fast (or faster) than a WD VelociRaptor. Likely due to platter density - if you use all the space, its normal (slow) speed.

He means they're probably 5400rpm/Green units rather than 7200rpm.

Yeah - density would likely have an effect. I do think they are different... or at least I know they have been in the past - 5400's going into externals and 7200's for internal. It might not even be noticeable. Q is - why are desktop drives so expensive when compared with externals then?
