@spiderz: What kind of write speeds are you getting from yours?

These Patriot X-Porter flash drives are some of the slowest drives that I have ever used and that includes a number of noname 4 and 8GB drives. The speeds vary widely between identical drives. The first 32GB that I bought can write at close to 18MB/s which I was very happy with. I then decided to purchase two more - the first can only reach 4MB/s and the second 6MB/s. After reading some reviews on Amazon on other Patriot flash drives I see that there are many other similar complaints.

Write 5MB/s Read 10MB/s
Good for backups.

If you are going self promote in this thread at least have the decency to list a price or some details about the item in question. Nevermind the fact that it didn't look like anything of a special price once I clicked on the link:

asus memopad full hd for R2999

qualcomm 1.5 s4 pro quad core , 2gb ram , 16gb storage , full hd display , and LTE !!

comes with cover and vodacom sim card with data loaded on it.

Dont think there is better tablet deal then this!

I ordered one 10 days ago, received parcel without the complimentary cover and data pack. I had to send daily emails for a week before they shipped the missing items, so hopefully any subsequent orders will now include them

I remember reading that thread. That's why I'm steering well away from them...

S6000:
- 1280x800
- 1.2Ghz quad-core
- 1Gb RAM

Asus MemoPad FHD10 LTE:
- 1920x1200
- 1.5Ghz quad
- 2Gb RAM

:)

Trust me when I say, the specs on paper alone don't make a tablet...

Can't help with comparing the Memopad to an S6000, but compared to my Galaxy Tab 2 10", the Memopad is the shizz.

Lol, alrighty.. The specs are really good. Will try and see if incredible has one to view...

Awesome.. we're getting back to the sub R1k 2TB drives again....
Huh? It used to be under R800 before the Thailand floods, so we are still quite a ways off getting back to that.

EDIT:

17 October 2011, R682 incl VAT from FrontoSA:
"R599 Seagate ST2000DL003 barracuda Green , 2TB/2000gb, Sata6G , Green , 5900rpm , 64mb cache - 2 years warranty"

3 days later the price went up R59. Takealot price was only R20 more than FrontoSA. Around a week later prices went through the roof once the impact of the floods was felt!

Exchange rate has shifted somewhat since then....

Plus I know it was cheaper, but even sub R1k is a decent price nowadays.

If you took the 682, converted it to dollar based on that days exchange rate, you get $85.
Take that $85 and convert it to Rands based on today exchange rate and you get R904.

So not that much more expensive than 2011.
