Plus I know it was cheaper, but even sub R1k is a decent price nowadays.

If you took the 682, converted it to dollar based on that days exchange rate, you get $85.
Take that $85 and convert it to Rands based on today exchange rate and you get R904.

So not that much more expensive than 2011.

That's awesome news. Now if only our economy would strengthen...I'd love to buy 4TB drives for around R1200

That's pretty good. Most people would try and compare it to the 3TBs we had last year for the same price. But, that won't happen again.
