I reckon there might be over 50 orders. Forget tomorrow morning. I reckon there's already kark at HQ.

Glad I didn't take one. Going to be just like the switch debacle.
They did in fact honour the sale of the switches, as I had also bought. But, they limited the orders to one per person. I was called and informed that it was an error. I was happy with the explanation.

This is the email I got:
We regret to inform you that we need to cancel the order for [WD Red - 6TB SATA 6 Gb/s NAS Drive] that you placed over the weekend.

Unfortunately there was an incorrect pricing update in our system that resulted in an incorrect price reflection on our website.

Due to this error we are unable to accept your order.

We have credited your account with a R200 voucher to show how sorry we are.""

I just noticed they cancelled my order but have not received an email yet.

That is better way of doing it at least they giving all affected people R200 vouchers. Unlike Kakahari that just cancel your order and dont give any reason.

Mines has been cancelled as well. Still awaiting their email.

I paid via eBucks & CC...

I received the same email.

Considering that they honoured the TP-Link switch order I placed last time they messed the price up, and taking into account the large loss per drive they would make, I find the order cancellation fair and appreciate the email. I'll take the R200 voucher but feel it is a little low compared to the loss they would have made if they had indeed shipped the drive to me.

EDIT: Glad I chose COD payment - would be agitated if I had to wait for a refund as well

that's a bs excuse. they verified that price before the buying frenzy. but u got a voucher, now its ohk. if it was Kalahari the pitch forks would be out.

The poor person at the help desk that responded to the email about the price just checked it on their system and it matched so they said yes its correct. Theses prices are autoloaded based on the suppliers pricelist. It therefore is the suppliers fault for the incorrect price. You cant expect takealot to take a R500k loss on someone elses mistake.

The difference between the way they handled it compared to Kakahari is that they gave a reason and acknowledged the mistake and offered a voucher. Yes its less that the R1800 difference in price but Kakahari would have just said order cancelled and never acknowledged that anything was wrong. This feels more human.
