I got a power bank as a gift, one that resembles a small torch. My issue with this thing is i charge it up and leave it for a couple of days, when i need to use it, its dead.

Is the case with all the powerbanks? Or is there something i need to look out for before buying one?

I got one of the Romoss 7800mah ones from Takealot....works quite well. Haven't tested how long it holds charge...took it camping to Rocking the Daisies and it didn't flinch so should be good for 5 days, I guess.

Mine doesnt do it, left it unplugged for 2 weeks and it was still fully charged when I wanted to use it. See my post above on the one I have. They all discharge but what you experiencing is not right..

I would think that the powerbanks bought via groupon-type deals are a bit dodge. Myself and a colleague had that experience via that Catch of the Day deals site. Those particular powerbanks took forever to charge our devices and there were misprints on the device in terms of name or something. Fong Kong power banks :p

A while back I wanted to get one of the Romoss ones from Takealot but never bit the bullet. Pricing went up since then :(

Paid R229 for the 5200mAh Romoss Powerbank from TakeAlot in December.

Like I said, haven't seen the issue in SA yet. But try that in China and they will call you back to open your checked luggage and take it out. And there are bins full of discarded powerbanks at the xray machines.

I need of a 3TB external (not portable).

Anyone know of any specials on these? I'm not finding anything from my side.

Is that the cheapest one you can get currently? Where are the ones i heard about that used to be R1,000

I bought one for R999 from Game in 2013. Best I've gotten recently was a 2TB 3.5" for R840 on Kalahari. R999 is the average going rate for a 2TB 3.5, R1499 for 3TB and R1999 for 4TB.
