8tb on loot for R2700

I got mine yesterday, So just a few things.
It comes with a cover & Screen protector already applied, it also comes with an additional screen protector in the box. With the package I also received an additional flip cover and glass screen protector, so pretty happy about that since there are nothing available in SA.

First off, initial setup was quite easy. Installed all my apps and setup my fingerprint. Struggled to find out where and how you "check for updates", its an actual icon in your app drawer, anyway it installed 3 updates and basically wiped my phone so had to reinstall everything again, this did irritate me a little.
The phone is fast and easy to work, the android version is very basic, no bloatware besides the google apps. Basic Android 7, no lag due to the 4gb RAM, screen is sharp and crisp. Has a dual sim slot and 64gb internal memory. I read people having reception problems, but for me its quite the opposite, with my previous P8 Lite (2017) and P9 I had no data reception in our basement. With the Oukitel I get reception

Now everything that's wrong with the phone (This far)
1. The battery is not as good as advertised. Don't get me wrong, its good, but I expected a battery of that size to last much longer.
2. The fingerprint scanner sucks. Its like the first Samsung scanners, hit or miss.... occasionally you have to pres the button multiple times before it recognizes my finger
3. This is probably what frustrates me the most. When you get a whatsapp/email/facebook, you get a "popup" notification, and you also het the notification in your "task manager". But there is no indication/notification on the actual icon. (https://fscl01.fonpit.de/userfiles/7152879/image/whatsapp.jpg)
4. On the home screen, well basically all menu's there is a huge gap between the top icons and the top of the screen. It looks like a whole row of icons can fit in there.

All and all its not a bad phone, for the price you will not find anything better, you wont even find anything remotely in its league.

I'm honestly surprised not more people has jumped at this. Last year the Xiaomi Note 3 went on sale for R1800 and everyone jumped on that. This phone is better and everyone is quite :p

The RN3 sports a Qualcomm 650 and has excellent developer support (from the best in the world due to popularity)
Android 8 ROMs are even available with the latest security updates as they are released.

Oukitel you're stuck with what you've got - forget security updates. MTK Processor = dead end soon enough.
Reviews have been quite scathing on several fronts. (I wanted to buy the Oukitel K10000 - but after reading several in-depth reviews I wouldn't use it at any price point.)

The raw specs are amazing value for money, but it's not a phone I'd feel comfortable with in my own pocket - especially as far as security/privacy goes anyway.

PS. Did get one for an old toppie who's just going to call, sms, alarm and possibly telegram with it..

Hi,
Well I got 3 security updates upon setting up the phone, so I wont say i'm stuck with what I got....Also the performance of the phone is really good, I used a Huawei P8 Lite 2017 before getting this phone, and this phone runs much smoother with no lag at all.

So for a backup phone, or even if you are on a tight budget (like myself), then this phone is brilliant. For R1800 you wont get better. I can get a Galaxy Prime which is honestly a piece of crap compared to this phone.

Nice review and nice package from Oukitel. My Redmi Note 2 cost R2200 and I got a free MI Band but the screen protector and covers set me back R400.

Definitely over kill for occasional use. Get a regular ryobi li ion 18v.

I got me a this ^^^^ suggestion the other day - R1000 which included the battery and charger from Builders Warehouse. Works really well and completely fine for using around the house :)

I disagree. Bosch is built to last - and those 18V drills are epic. I have one for "occasional home use" and it's just perfect. The Ryobi's just aren't strong enough and they don't last. My Bosch is actually in need of a service by now, after YEARS of proper work around the house. EPIC battery operated drills, those.

I concur. Buy it for life.

Is this a good deal or overkill for occasional home use?

That's a nice drill, if you can afford it then buy it, the similar Ryobi li-ion drills are half the price and work well enough but have useless chucks, once you add the cost of a decent chuck then they aren't much cheaper and you'll still have a crappy Ryobi in your hands.

With tools always wisest to buy the best if you arent restrained by budget, they work out cheaper in the long run.
