Cash Crusaders had a few Dixon Bluetooth Speakers when I visited one of their branches several weeks ago. They were selling between R250 and R350 depending on the size. If there are any nearby just call and ask. Game and HiFi Corporation often have discounts on some of the Volkano range. The Bazooka is currently selling for R449 at Game.

I bought a Creative Muvo 2C from OneDayOnly for R599 a few weeks ago. It will probably be available again quite soon. This speaker produces a very good sound for something so small and can be paired with another unit to produce stereo sound. The JBL Go is another popular choice and sells for around R400 on Takealot but does not support an SD card or stereo pairing.

Seems like good value. But i have no idea regarding the quality of the SSDs.

SSD's are all the same, made in china. The speed is normally the same for sata drives.

Samsung will have faster and higher quality memory that last longer as they pay for higher quality NAND chips. They normally have 5 or 10 year warranty.

You basically get a better price for a shorter warranty, 3 years in this case.

I've ordered a 500GB one, will let you know how it behaves once I've received it probably by the end of the week. It's a TLC drive so that's one drawback as it should have less life than a MLC drive, but explains why it's cheaper.

Thanks, would appreciate an honest review.

I'm also eyeing the 500GB and then using my existing 500GB HDD for storage.

I dont have a lot of stuff to store really but could do with better load times on my games and programs.

Likewise. I have lots of TB of storage for other things - want to have my steam library on my SSD. For now this will be a boot drive though, will get the Samsung Evo 970 M.2 once that lands, then I'll use that for my boot drive and dedicate the Mushkin to my game library :D
 
Both OCZ and Kingston SSDs have failed my clients - OCZ within 7 months, Kingston after 1.5 years..

Samsung only since then, without failure.
 
Just my 2c,

I had an old OCZ Agility 3 that I bought in 2011 and it is still going. But slow in comparison with modern SSD's, of course.

I am currently running a Samsung 850 Evo and contemplating getting an nvme drive. Maybe just a cheap and nasty one to load Windows onto. I can then use the 2.5" SSD for installed games and so on. But definitely get one with a long warranty if you are planning on keeping it for a while

Also have an old OCZ going strong still. Also an Intel and Samsung... No problems thus far.
 
I would stick with the known good brands with Ssd, I'd rather go most entry level(which is still stupid fast) good brand than some off brand ssd. Looks like the budget Samsungs are hardly much more than these Mushkin drives.

Who actually needs ssd's with over 500MB/s read or write speeds, apart those wanting to boast about their ego boosting 1200MB/s ssd drive in their super super gaming rig?

1TB NVMe in my laptop here. So what does that make me in your judgemental world?
And it's not 1200. More like 3000. You gonna rip us ego boosters, at least get it right please.

You can get a 512GB Toshiba NVMe drive on Carbonite for R1800-R2000 that does 3000MB/s read and 2100MB/s write, why settle?
