For those who use the Schoemansville(012 253) or Xanadu(012 259) exchanges in Hartbeespoort might have noticed decreased speeds the past 2 weeks on multiple ISP's.
This is especially evident during weekends where you can expect speeds lower than 1.2mbps on a 4 mbps line! Yet your latency is completely normal and actually pretty good.

During the time of posting this i conducted a speedtest on a Telkom internet Capped account and an Afrihost Capped account.

If you have ADSL lines connected to these exchanges please post feedback here and what area you stay in town.
Hopefully TelkomZA might read this as well and provide feedback.

I'm in Pretoria (Montanapark) and I'm experiencing EXACTLY the same issue as you, trace route is fine, however I get ~0.8mbps on a 4mb line, irrespective of my Telkom uncapped, Afrihost capped of FNB Connect accounts...

Thank you so much for the feedback! Yeah I definitely think it is related to some congestion higher up in the network so some issue in the whole region instead one of the local exchanges in Hartbeespoort, since Vodacom 3G is just as bad and I know for a fact that Vodacom runs on the Telkom's network in Hartbeespoort.

Well if there is anybody else with issues in this region please share, but hopefully since it's so wide spread they will hopefully take action soon!

One of our clients had an ADSL connection in Harties. Tel 012 259 xxxx
They had 2 ADSL lines installed and had constant problems. We replaced their routers a couple of times but it did not help.
I agree that there is a problem with ADSL in Harties.

Currently the client is using iBurst High Speed Link, working great.

Thank you, yes absolutely we are so overdue for an upgrade currently.

Happy to announce that the congestion issues at Pretoria West seems to have been resolved!
So far a full week with full speed lines.

still unhappy

Glad you have been sorted. We were struggling with slow connections since mid March and about 2 weeks no access at all. They keep on telling us they r working on it but nothing is done. Our registered fault on telkom site still show slow connection problem and not NO SERVICE. Really frustrating having no connection.:twisted::(
We r in Meerhof

anyone having issues with their internet right between the 30th and currently the 1st. I'm getting really slow browsing speeds and high latency

Lucky!! I'm in Willows area, 0.1mb/s dl speed, 600ms latency. You guys are living the good life as far as I'm concerned. Also I've been having this issues since February!

Deploy a MSAN but dont connect it. No whatever you do, dont connect than MSAN. Keep the max at a theoretical 4Mb connection. But by deploying the MSAN at the exchange for everyone to see we can show what total ****ing idiots we actually are.

Happy to announce that 10 Mbps is now available at Xanadu(012 259) exchange in Hartbeespoort.
People in the area should now be connected to the MSAN at the exchange.

I had to phone 10210 to bump my speed up, but the 10Mbps profile is now available to be selected.

Louis how did find out if i may ask because I'm thinking of upgrading my line and service provider and when i looked at telkom adsl checker it indicates 4meg is the fastest possible in the area

Well ive been seeing lots of new telkom boxes in the area and a new MSAN outside the exchange, i knew it was only a matter of time before the area would be upgraded and yesterday the ADSL went offline for a hour or so and when it came back i looked at my router page and saw it was syncing at 4095 instead of 4096 and i knew something was different so i set my router to ADSL 2+ mode and it worked!
I then immediately phoned 10210 and requested they select the 10 Mbps profile and it was done.

Dont trust the checker its messed up.
Just checked again cant give me any information about the exchange...
